Also Panarin is a selfish asshole.

Nice pass on the first PPG, lucky goal but that 5 on 3 sequence was the most disgusting thing I've seen from him here. Almost every shot he took during that time was f***ing stupid, and he had Fox for an easy layup before the Demko breakdance sequence started. Don't get me started on his marathon 3v3 shift. You have nothing left in the tank, get your ass off the ice.

He was also probably our worst player 5v5.
This is pro forward development we're renowned for.

Out of all times to get selfish, that was the worst. He looked like he was at a carnival game trying to hit a target.

Lol Miller has been great this year, gets beat on one goal and falls in OT after Panarin takes a 5 hour shift and also gets caught deep and the anti Miller crowd has its GOTCHA moment.

Ya'll need to find someone else to hate on or at least wait until he actually deserves it.

It is so so dumb he’s been lights out good mostly. Guy are going to get scored on. It’s kind of part of the game

The dmen are getting ragged on unfairly. The forwards are doing nothing to help them. They do not know how to move the puck out of the defensive zone. The dmen are doing their jobs for the most part, getting to the puck first and moving it to their partner, who then makes the first outlet pass or reverses it to create a different outlet. That's exactly when shit starts to happen. I know sometimes the dman shouldn't have made the pass he made into danger. But often it's the forward, who tries a chip pass that gets intercepted, tries a headman pass that doesn't connect, or gets trapped immediately by a forechecker and can't move the puck. Then it's a second chance for the other team on that shift. Rinse and repeat, and the other team gets a third crack at it on the same shift. By that time, everyone's scrambling and out of position.

Tob’s Burn Book.

To be fair, I think your first few years in the NHL is part of your development as well. We've never had a lack of NHL defensemen coming through our ranks. That one guy that half the board really, really likes 100% broke out with the Rangers. So did Lindgren. We saved Stralman's career. Say what you will about Girardi but he wasn't supposed to be anything at all.

At forward, it's just this giant void. We told ourselves it's because we never picked high, which seemed valid at the time. Once we started picking high, we started having out of the box NHL forwards hit a wall. Something isn't right. It's who we are. We haven't developed a star up front since the f***ing GAG line. It's obviously different people in charge but sport teams develop cultures that transcend the people. We need to identify what the problem quick and actively fix it.

I don't buy that it's "boogah boogah New York" because then explain Henrik Lundqvist who was born in a village and became a Hall of Famer here.

Right, plus Fox, plus Shesterkin looking like Hank Jr.

And I agree that your first few years in the show count as development - to a degree your whole career is development, but I get we’re talking prospect development - so I’m not saying we have ZERO impact on Fox or Lindgren, but Fox is obviously transcendent and knew what he was about, staying in school and forcing his way here. Lindgren is like Girardi, Callahan and Dubinsky - the kind of guy who is going to go through a wall and fight and bleed to make it; those seem to be the only guys we can consistently develop - the ones who basically refuse to fail. Ideally, that would be every prospect, but we know it isn’t. I agree whatever the malfunction is within the org though, it has to be identified and corrected because if none of these kids pan out, we’re going to squander the Panarin/Fox/Shesterkin era.

it was very frustrating watching kakko wide open on a couple of plays in good position to support or be an option and strome just completely ignores him to force the puck to panarain, and panarin doing the same with strome. it is like watching beer league when two friends only want to pass to each other and ignore everyone else. it makes me hate strome even more, but i definitely feel this is a panarin lead/breed issue. he only wants to play with certain guys which is ridiculous and selfish.
Strome knows where his bread is buttered. He’s Panarins piss boy.
Our fwd support and fwd/center attention to detail on the defensive side of the puck has been grotesque, except for the 4th line.
They hang the D out to dry more often then not and it results in too many high danger chances on shesty

We are giving up way too many scoring chances. We are creating nothing on offense. Not a great combination. A lot and I mean a lot of this stems from our center play. It's been embarrassingly bad. Our centers are absolute dog shit. Our overall team speed is a step below lethargic.

I dont understand why we're the only team that can't create favorable shooting angles and chances on the PP.

we do not create anything between the dots as much as we should.

His shift lengths have become absurd.

Panarin clearly doesnt like Gallant, or just really liked Quinn.

Beyond that, if there is anything that doesn't deserve harsh criticism, its our defense and goalie. All of Lindgren/Fox, Miller/Trouba and Nemeth have been good. Tinordi and Lundqvist both have issues in different areas but even they havent been the cause of the teams problems. Igor has been crazy good. Georgiev even put in a good game against Ottawa.

Say what you will about "growing pains" and other horseshit excuses, but coaching change, system change, GM change, Covid, whatever, doesn't explain this teams lack of effort each night. They have only won the games they have from amazing goaltending, good defense (and I mean literally only the defensemen) and Kreider.

Eh I don’t blame him when no one can score
Whats he have.. 5pts in his last 2? I think people are scapegoating him and Mika a bit because they don’t want to admit Laf & Kakko are lookin like busts
This makes no sense. Laf and Kakko have nothing to do with their power play. Panarin pulls points out of his ass because he's talented enough to make 1 impact play a game.

Honestly, reading this board has become a chore. Almost as bad as the Giants board where the team is 2-6 with the worst record in the NFL the last 5 years. Just terrible.
I can't get a read on you. You're hugely critical when shit hits the fan and now you're criticizing people for being critical.

I’m not saying Panarin & Mika aren’t to blame for the PP but I’m saying in general. If someone didn’t watch any of the games and you told them that we’re playing like shit then you showed them our stat sheet they wouldn’t think it’s because the vets, they’re the only ones scoring. They’d think it’s because Kakko & Laf still aren’t taking that next step. The 2nd overall pick still has 0 points in his D+3 season, that’s pathetic.

That tying goal is 100% on Laf. From a poor clearing attempt (admittedly he had pressure on him), he did this odd clothesline maneuver on Podkolzin which he was lucky he never got called for, however Podkolzin jumped right up and attacked the net with Laf leisurely coasting behind him, watching. The Canuck point man was outside the zone and just barely starting to come back in. Sure there's some blame to pass around on the whole sequence of zone time, but Laf had a chance to own that situation.

I'm tired of watching him just go through the motions. Is Laf at the root of our issues? Absolutely not, but I'm just seeing way too much comfort out there.

Before all the Laf fans come at me with pitchforks - no I'm not giving up on him. But he REALLY needs to start engaging and looking alive out there. That's not "development/still new to the league/he's young so give him time/long lay off after draft - it's having hustle and determination, move your ass!

We're 6-2-2 on the back of our goaltending, the sky isn't falling however there's some glaring items that need addressing. Rangers are heading to my neck of the woods, please deliver a 2 piece combo on CGY/EDM for me :)

I think this is my biggest takeaway RE the even strength scoring issues. Mika looks like shit, Strome's reverted to the guy who was leeching off of Panarin (who looks like shit so there's not much to leech from now), and Chytil wouldn't know how to use his line mates (or make himself useful to his line mates) to save his life.

Not like the top 9 wingers have been great or anything (Barclay Goodrow being leaned on as some swiss army player is frustrating, he was the worst of the three players on Tampa's energy line and we're treating him like he was the best), but the centers are not coming remotely close to driving play in any capacity.

I'm a mystery. I'm not happy with the way the team is playing this season, I get it. I also complain in the GDT. But looking at it big picture when this board is as depressing as the Giants board and the team is 6-2-2, no matter how poorly they looked it's just not right. People complaining about looking poorly and winning, last year in the beginning they looked pretty good and lost, and everyone still complained. As a fan of a Giants team that finds ways to lose I'll take finding ways to win more often than not.
