I thought Krav had an excellent game all night. Great passes, creative stick handling, tougher on the boards. Would like to see him with Panarin and Trochek.
I really liked the knock hockey style one he gave to Vesey along the wall. He put the puck ahead of both Vesey and his defender that let Vesey skate into it

I wasn't able to get the game . How did Bobby Eye Brows play? I take it not so good seeing his icetime.

If he is healthy by opening game, yes.
If we can’t be rash and unreasonable what are we even doing here.

My math may be off, but I don’t think they can keep all four of Vesey, Reaves, Carpenter, and Hunt in this scenario. Goodrow is part of the fourth line equation and they’re only keeping one extra forward.
True. Goodrow and Reaves are a lock. Hunt vs Vesey for Wing. Carpenter is your number 13. Maybe they hang on to one winger for a bit.

Gallant didn't seem to be as upset as some people here. I missed the game but did anybody play well.
game was fine...we played with a shell of a roster. trocheck laf krav looked good, vesey was decent, fox was fox when he wanted to be...looked like a summer skate for him getting back on the ice, none of the guys battling for spots did much of note.

laf news is exactly what we all knew was coming and provides me absolutely no relief

Kravtsov looked really good. Much more comfortable out there.

Carpenter is so so so bad. This is Gallant’s guy? He makes Tanner Glass look like Corey Perry. Brod the bod for 4C!

I thought Trocheck actually looked pretty good. He was exactly what I expected, the anti Ryan Strome. I think that will have puts and takes but ultimately be good for both Panarin and the NYR overall.

Except on the power play. Didn't really try anything, kept going back to the point looking for the puck to eventually come around to him for the one timer instead of trying to make plays.

This is my opening night roster:

Kreider Mika Laffy
Bread Trochek Kravstov
Vesey Chytil Kakko
Blais Rydahl Goodrow

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Schneider

13f Reavo
7d Hajek

I really did not want Vesey to make the team but he is forcing his way on. Kravstov played better today, I am withholding judgement until I see him with Bread. That has a potential to be a good line. So far he has not forced his way into the lineup but they have him penciled in for it already. Othmann has made his case but I think they send him back to Juniors. Rydahl is way better than Carpenter. Robertson, Cuylle and several others need more time in the AHL. Fire Gauthier, Hunt and Tinordi into the Sun.

Edit: Also Halak is way better than Georgie. Our goalies stats are going to be even better this year.

All of this except give Othmann 9 games in the NHL

You must’ve been in the nosebleeds

I was in the corporate seats up close to watch him fist away multiple pp touches. I thought at worst he’d be good on the pp

Kreider Mika Laffy
Bread Trochek Kravstov
Vesey Chytil Kakko
Blais Rydahl Goodrow

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Schneider

Halak and frankly domingue are both better than Georgie

Vesey may be divisive but he should be signed. He’s obviously never lived up to his hype but he’s a solid player for what he is. He’ll be solid in the bottom six and as an extra forward who can step in and play up the lineup ***if necessary*** if there are injuries. If Blais gets hurt again which is very likely considering his history, I’d rather have Vesey stepping into his spot than Hunt.

We’ll have to see how married Gallant is to Carpenter. He stinks. There’s no way he should be on this team over some of the other players he’s fighting for a lineup spot with. Even Brodzinski is better than him and he’s a sure fire for Hartford.

What Laf news?

I do not think Carpenter adds anything. Yet they signed him, no PTO, for some reason.

Hunt has not shown well. I do not dislike him, yet he's not that good.

Reaves should be more like an alternate. He's on the team.

I do not dislike Gauthier yet he is not breaking out.

Vesey, even though I think coaching will overplay him, is better than any of them.

Rydahl looks decent, small sample size, is not waiver eligible, yet he may not want to stay for the AHL.

Goodrow when healthy will play, and more than he likely should.

Othmann looks decent and maybe should get a shot, yet he is 19 and probably is not going to.

My guess is they keep both Hunt, Vesey and Carpenter. Move Rydahl and Gauthier to Hartford. Othmann goes back to juniors. Platoon Hunt and Vesey with Reaves and eventually move one down to Hartford until someone gets injured.

think we all tend to make assessments of players as if the first 2 preseason games where only 5 guys even played in both too quick. but agree have really liked a ton of what ive seen of kravtsov. can tell hes still finding his footing over here on/off the ice and everything points towards his having and continuing to show the right kind of effort and worth ethic and the skill has flashed. will continue to acclimate to the small ice and thatll help his feel for timing and positioning, and itll be help him getting to the full roster where hes playing with 1 line consistently. love the way panarin has taken him under his wing, thatll be huge for him on and off the ice.

i mean ive seen nothing from carpenter either, nor hunt, nor gauthier....really not much from many of the hopefuls. but also not sure how much we really should expect. will say in fairness you'd expect to see a bit more from some guys battling for limited roster spots but still theres more too it. guys have been playing with people theyve never played with for the most part, its the first 2 competitive games at anything close to nhl hockey in months for everyone, lot of guys trying to adjust to new linemates and systems etc...

all of which is to say we likely arent seeing all of whats there all over the lineups, and adjusting to surroundings/linemates/systems has people thinking more out there instead of playing. obviously rydahl might be someone you could say has all these excuses and yey hes shown very well. its not that those things have to hold anyone back, but i would say 2 great preseason games can mean just as little as an indicator of what a player will be over 82+ games as 2 awful preseason ones. a guy like carpenter may end up being a spare part we waive and he may wind up a fan favorite staple of the 4th line by year end. the bottom of the lineup will work itself out. by far the best thing is pretty all of the kids have looked noticeably physically stronger on pucks and on their feet and all of laf/kakko/fil/kandre/braden/jones have carried themselves with a different confidence we havent seen. othmann is going to be adored by the fanbase when its his time...skill, iq, and a real piece of sht to play against - on a great track. robertson is prob the only kid i saw as maybe a bubble type whos been a step behind
