Why not buy low on Joel Armia at the same time ?

The guy can completely take over a shift WHEN he is ON.

Joel has all the tools but this season has been a nightmare.
His contract is a non starter

Will Cuylle would be my target.
Never say never, but I can't see that happening. Cuylle is everything NYR have been trying bring to the team in this new direction. Most of those moves have failed. Cuylle, if pans out, is basically what they spent the offseason trying to accomplish.

It would be useful if a NYR fan could post their list of top 10-12 prospects with listed position and list of picks owned for 2024, might be easier to speculate

The only player on the Canadiens that I would trade Othmann for is Suzuki and I'd probably want someone with some upside (like Caulfield) coming back in a deal as well.
LOL @ this post if CHL numbers matter this much give us Laf for Joshua Roy hes a year younger then Othmann and his only 3 points behind with 10 less games

The Rangers do not want and do not need Chiarot. Lehkonen works perfectly fine though. That is the target that has been talked about for a while.
That's the thing I've been wondering about. Why are Rongos wanting Lehkonen? Why is he a target kinda all of a sudden?

Someone at 'Habs said pretty well he's an "elite 4th liner" but an average 3th liner when it comes to production despite the effort. Something like that?

No doubt. I'm a fan of him. If you can't get him look at something else.

What do Rangers fans think the price is for Kravtsov? He said he would report if traded.

Chiarot might be worht a first depending who is in on him come deadline time and how many 1st round picks are still available (5 contenders have already lost their 1st this year.

While the rangers may be interested in Chiarot, they shouldn't (and likely wont) pay a 1st for a 3rd pair d man when they have 2 huge holes in their top9 (top 6 RW, mid 6 C). Drury will likely address those needs first before trading a 1st for Chiarot, and if he does address those needs we likely wont have a first. It would be bad asset management.

God another Kratsov topic most likely.

This played proved absolutely nothing and people act he's worth the moon.

He has been a constant bright spot in a team that has recently proved absolutely...

He's not worth a space station but a small moon perhaps. Enjoy what you get!

Lekhonen extended for 2 years @ 2.5-3M
MTL eats 50% and sends to NYR for Kravtsov

Hate to give up such a high potential player like Kravtsov.... but it is what it is.

Lehkhonen is a very good depth player and fills a major need for the Rangers.

MTL takes somewhat of a risk but can be a huge reward in offensive dynamo Kravstov

I've argued before that Lehkonen makes a lot of sense for the Rangers. It was basically:

-The Rangers are leaning heavily on goaltending at 5v5. That's not something you bet on in the playoffs.

-Lehkonen is relatively inexpensive, has team control for another year and isn't likely to get a meaningful raise.

-Lehkonen has some of the best defensive impacts of any forward in the NHL and has a better 5v5 xGF% percentage than any Rangers player.

-He's doing that against the other team's top players and with low quality line-mates. He also has experience playing effective shutdown minutes against top competition in the playoffs.

-While Lehkonen isn't a PP guy or big point producer, he helps create a lot and only Strome and Panarin are producing at a higher rate 5v5 this season.

The Rangers could probably use a player that can help their 5v5 play a lot (even if he can't finish), especially since they're loaded with offensive talent.

Don't know which Habs fan has said he's an average 3rd liner when it comes to production, but that in general isn't a healpful concept because there is no "average third liner". Outside of superstars, you want guys that can plug as many holes as possible. There's also a segment of the Habs fanbase that straight up hates 5v5 + PK players. Same thing happened with Danault.

That's a pretty crazy price to pay for a guy that the Rangers have been trying to move for a 1st for a while, is a flight risk and is waiver eligible next season.

Dont think he's a flight risk. He'll get his top6 time in MTL.

it'd be a major risk to a team like Arizona though

That's why he's not leaving MTL, he's among the best defensive forward in the league and can produce around 30pts with no pp times at all.

Unless overpayment he's not leaving for sure.
