I don't think him having Kakko with Panarin and Zib instead of Buch means Quinn is abandoning the Panarin-Zib-Buch line.

I think he wants to try Kakko on PP1 and he wants Buch to run PP2 so he crafted his lineups with those plans in mind.

I posted something a few days ago saying I could see KK on PP1 with Kreider, Zib, Panarin and Trouba.

And then see Buch on PP2 with Fox, Chytil and whoever else Quinn throws on there (Strome, Names, Kravtsov etc) with the idea being that Buch will run PP2 from the half wall.

yes it is and I would have experimented with the first set of lines before changing them :naughty:

Quinn saw that line in practice and in scrimmages. Just because we didn't see it doesn't mean Quinn didn't see what he wanted to see from them. And for all we know, the line change has nothing to do with him breaking up that group. Buchnevich isn't playing in this game at all, so someone had to go to that line.

Buch will start the year with Panarin on the first line. Two reasons they speak the same language, and Kakko's minutes are less. Kreids never plays top minutes. 16 or 17 per. That is what you can expect from the 2nd line.

But we all know it's only a matter of time before Kakko gets top minutes.

This line 1-2-3 nonsense needs to stop.

I want 3 awesome lines and to load up one or two lines when necessary. As long as minutes aren’t needlessly going to players who don’t deserve them, I’m happy.

We haven't even played one preseason game and we're already talking about lines being broken up. For all we know, Quinn could have said "I want three groups of 24 players... one in this corner, one in that corner, and one in that corner over there. Go find yourself a group, and remember to buddy up."

Weird to open camp all week having these lines develop chem and then start preseason game 1 completely different.

Guys have one practice to gel before playing a real game.

Seriously, who cares? (Not directed specifically at you.) You don't think lines will change during the season and even after a few games in October?

Keep Buch and package Kreider for a 1st+ instead.

There. I said it.

Isn't that the expected outcome?

And as someone said earlier, I would like Jessica Biel to ask me out. But what are the odds of that.

When anyone refers to lines 1,2,3, they are talking about minutes played.
Panarin and Zibanejad play 18-20 minutes.
Kreids 15 -17 minutes.

Buch never played more than 16 min per game. It is very likely he won't last on that first line. He'll start there for the reasons I said, but it is only a matter of time his 1st line minutes will be shared with others.

Line combos change, but what is important is minutes played.

Anyone know the lines for tomorrow, or will that be a day of decision? Also, it's finally hockey season again!!!!

A post on the previous page said Team A is playing tomorrow night.

It doesn't really make a huge difference, whether it's Panarin-Buch/Kreider-Kakko or Panarin-Kakko/Kreider-Buch we are looking pretty damn good on the wing.
I agree. I also hope Buch will excel and will be rewarded with more time on ice. If he and Chytil take steps forward this season, it could make a huge difference. They would take pressure off the rookies.

Lias Andersson will be the 2C this year over Chytil don’t @ me
Competition is healthy. Good to have hungry young players. I hope he makes a go of it. He let Howden grab his spot last year. I'm sure he will not let that happen again. Or at least do his best to make the team out of camp.
