Listing the strengths of the individual players means nothing unless this happens ^^^
Must play as a unit of five, up and down the ice. And after last year, Quinn has his hands full. This team has only gotten younger and more inexperienced.

I sound so much like a Debbie Downer, I wanna puke. I really hope the learning curve is minimal, and that the excitement of the players and this new season, can make them a highly competitive bunch. I really do. I know Kakko and Panarin won't take losing lightly. Light the fire boys!

Andersson threw his medal away. And now he's bulked up to Dwayne Johnson proportions. Others will be scared to lose, with him around, honestly.

If the Rangers aren't much improved from last season, it will mean that Chytil, Anderson, Buchnevich and Howden all failed to live up to what is expected of them. If two of them improve nicely, they are a playoff team, in my opinion.

Further breaking it down, success from Chytil and Buch make the Rangers a team that presents major problems for their opponents.

The biggest missing piece is a young offensive dynamo Dman unless Fox becomes that. Guys like Dahlin, Heiskanen, and Makar are popping up all over the league and are they fun to watch.
That's why I have high hopes for Fox. He's not gonna be a bust like Matt Gilroy.

I could see Buch stepping up his game, but our sophomores might have it tough. Don't second year guys generally drop off some? Though it is hard to drop lower than the seasons they had last year, so they might improve with one under their belt.

I saw him shirtless on the beach in a twitter post. He did not look impressive. Still looks like a teenager.

Then I don't know what that guy in your profile pic was talking about when commenting on Chad's body transformation.

Team A is listing ADA on it...

Yeah he said the same about Chytil too. How they have grown up some. IDK, maybe at my age they all look like teenagers. But if you look at that Lias pic on the beach, there's no way you can mistake him for the Rock.

I don't think any hockey player should look like the Rock, unless of course they were playing in the 70's or 80's.

This is Chytil's 3rd training camp. He has shown moments of real offense. I don't expect him to reach full potential, yet, but his arrow has to start pointing higher this season if he is an eventual legit top-6 type player.

This is a last chance for Buch in NY. No legit top-6 this season and I would guess he's done here.

Chytil is looking very toned compared to last season. Not sure what you're expecting. Sounds like you're complaining just to complain. You and @Machinehead will be BFF's very soon. ;):D

I think it's more likely he stays on the team if he does not become a "legit top-6 player"

Too many unknowns and what if's around this team for me to give any definite predictions, I could see playoffs but I can also see a season much like the last. Rangers are Zib injury away from throwing stuff on the wall and hoping something sticks. Buch and ADA finished the season great but will that continue? it wouldn't be the first time a player showed greatness for half a season only to fail build on it. Kakko, Kravtsov are promising, but sometimes even promising rookies take a while to get going. Will Chytil, Andersson or our other young guys be able to grap a bigger role? Can at least one of our goalies play like an actual #1 for a full season? Who will get injured and for how long?

I tend to be overly optimistic when predicting the Rangers future and assume that every player will improve over previous season, but that's rarely true. So let's say ~25% of players improve over whoever held their roster spot last year, ~50% provide equal results while another ~25% do worse, where are we then? I'd say out of the playoffs.

I don't think he's that far off with Buch. I think he becomes a trade chip this offseason if there isn't movement upwards. At a $3M hit, he's an attractive trade chip for many teams even if the improvement isn't there.
Pretty much this, if his numbers don't go up playing with Panarin and Zibanejad he should be traded.

Not at all. Just that what else would JD or Quinn say about their youngsters? That they didn't grow up? And if you look at the shirtless beach pic of Lias you would agree with me.

I will say though, your post of Chytil is impressive. He is solid. I now see how he is able to go end to end on rushes. He is looking strong. You could see it in his back.

I saw the shirtless picture you're talking about of Andersson and if you're an advanced internet stalker like myself, you would have seen he looks bigger and more toned than shirtless pics of him in the past. It looks like he got rid of some of that baby fat, imo.

Chytil's back is huge. That's a great video of him. And his legs are massive. He's a physical specimen. A kid who turned 20 about a week ago with that much mass is insane. When he's in his mid 20's he's going to steamroll through people.
