I saw the shirtless picture you're talking about of Andersson and if you're an advanced internet stalker like myself, you would have seen he looks bigger and more toned than shirtless pics of him in the past. It looks like he got rid of some of that baby fat, imo.

Chytil's back is huge. That's a great video of him. And his legs are massive. He's a physical specimen. A kid who turned 20 about a week ago with that much mass is insane. When he's in his mid 20's he's going to steamroll through people.

GOAT

To me, he has no value as a 3rd-line guy. I'd rather have a draft pick.

Well he's produced better than a 3rd line guy each of the last two years. If he "breaks out" into a 70-80 point player on the top line the next two years then they likely won't even be able to keep him due to salary.

That may be. But the poster I replied to said he looked like the Rock meaning huge. And he is far from that. He might be fit and toned, but still looking like a teenager.

When the board first got whiff of JD's remark, someone joked about photoshopping Lias's head on the Rock's body. That's where I'm coming from.

More like a 4th liner than a 3rd though. Boo is offensively challenged. What I like though is he's big, fast and strong and where I see a role for him is as a 4th liner and on the penalty kill.

I agree he'll more likely play as a 4th line/13th type for this team, but in a small sample size he looks to have a very good knack for the defensive side of the puck and can occasionally pop in some points (even if I think his offensive playmaking is underrated). Point of the matter was that he is capable of playing in the NHL and not completely awful.

If that happens, it's not any kind of problem for the Rangers.

He’s definitely not awful but you don’t need to play with words either. Calling him a “Bottom-6er” is playing with words. Nieves is capable (generously) 4th liner, that’s it. I’d love to have him on my 4th line but he’s not even a utility player like Fast who could slide into a higher line for a short time if needed. Let’s call a spade a spade.

How's that a play with words? Bottom 6 is something I can see for Boo (whether with the Rangers or not). He's obviously been a late bloomer and (with a small sample size) has shown that he has a pretty decent offensive playmaking ability. But what really stands out is that he is big, fast and can be physical. His defensive play and awareness are what benefits him and his chances of sticking in the NHL, which is why, IMO, NYR extended him. He has a role even if it's with NYR or Hartford.

Hank is picking up from where he finished up last season.

Shoot high on him. Glove side.

Jesus you are so damn dramatic.

He has always been a little weak at the high glove side his entire career, but hey lets criticize him for being beat there on the first day of on-ice at camp. Guy has had an elite career.

In other news, water is wet.

I just don’t see how Nieves or Andersson stay on the main roster with jeff’s Lack of movement this summer. Just don’t see roster spots for them at all. Not until he finally starts moving out some bodies. Brooks named them today and frankly they all need to be gone by the deadline.

At least 2 of which should have been moved before we ever got to camp. Even if Lias has a good camp there’s literally no spot for him assuming the coaches like Howden over him and they do.

It’s the second summer in a row we did not do a good enough job moving pending free agents out and we only got away with it this past year because we won the draft lottery. But not moving guys out over the summer like zucc hurt their value on the market and kept us out of the bottom 5 of the draft.

They could also be put on waivers or be traded in the middle of camp. There's still more to be done.

Love these top two lines Quinn has put together. They make alot of sense will be interested to see how the bottom six shakes out. Too many guys here.

I like it too, 3 big guys. Wouldn’t mind seeing it backed up by Reunanen-TDA to get them enough rubber to work with too. :)

With all the talk this week about wanting north south guys and not having many. Are we really going to trade away Chris kreider with what he brings to this team? I'm still not so sure.

IMO you are completely wrong.
the obvious facts include that he is a strong skater, and offers size and strength to go with that. Continuing the eye test, we see he plays solid d, which reflects a very good +/- despite uneven conditions [almost always 4th line, with black holes like MacLeod, no PP time, etc.]. He is a better passer than you admit. Howden still has upside, but right now Nieves is better than Howden, and he is WAY, WAY better than Lias Andersson who could not even skate at NHL level until last 3 wks of the season.

Criminally underrated.
And watch, if they ever dare to give what I suggest a fair chance, I'll be proven correct.
