This is good.

Kreider Chytil Kakko is a monster possession second line.

No idea where Strome fits if he’s starting on the wing. Should have been dealt as he was the easiest one to move

Rangers PTO's include Connor Brickley, Micheal Haley, Nick Jones (AHL), Mason Geertsen, Vincent LoVerde (AHL), Joe Morrow, Francois Brassard (ECHL) and Tom McCollum (AHL).

As I've said, I'd like to see us pare down to a minimal true core dumping our trash and getting reasonable profit in futures for others. I would then like to see Brickley get a shot in bot 6, IMO he looked good including at W, last yr.

No, this is exactly why he was the one they didn’t want to deal. They’re starting with Chytil at center. Andersson too. That doesn’t mean that they’ll last there. It doesn’t even mean that, if they start the regular season there, they’re going to remain there all year. As Quinn said, Strome gives them the flexibility they need.

This has been the obvious strategy all summer.

If you take that fact, and add to it that he recently was the president of a franchise that had the coach who very much was stuck in the past, it does concern me a bit.
Seems to me that both the Blues and 'Jackets had some pretty great seasons under him. Look at the records.

True, but I also think Reunanen makes a push here and challenges Hajek.

People are also quickly forgetting Lindgren. Not enough mention for him.

It's very early but you're right, atm Lindy is getting short shrift.
Let's not forget this was a major acquisition return for vet talent.

hajek for sure is a way better player than he showed in Hartford. that's how bad that Hartford team and coaching staff was.
he's kind of the forgotten guy right now with the hype some of our guys like reunanen rykov fox are getting but this kid is solid. he should have a really good camp i'd expect and make this team.

I believe I remember reading last year that he can play RD also even tho he's lefty.
A la Deangelo.
That's the guy, who is more established, and an rfa not an elc, who we should carefully consider moving, not Lindgren.

Pare down to the real core, shed excess vets beyond primo top shelf guys and supporting parts.

This won't last. Soon enough a guy of Kakko's stature will demand first line minutes.
Demand all you want, he is only going to get top line minutes once he deserves it. I.e outplays the incumbents. Until then, he is just another prospect that has never stepped a toe onto NHL ice.
I much prefer Kreids and Buch together. They have history and chemistry together.
Or maybe ZBad was the commonality.

From what I understand, Bo Nieves requested number change before being asked so that Kakko can have 24. So I think it's just a formality.
classy

Credit Boo on being gracious enough to vacate the number.
always smart to give credit where credit is due

Boo should be gracious that he was a 2ed round pick and still on the NHL roster. with most NHL organizations he would still be in the AHL. awful player
IMO you are completely wrong.
the obvious facts include that he is a strong skater, and offers size and strength to go with that. Continuing the eye test, we see he plays solid d, which reflects a very good +/- despite uneven conditions [almost always 4th line, with black holes like MacLeod, no PP time, etc.]. He is a better passer than you admit. Howden still has upside, but right now Nieves is better than Howden, and he is WAY, WAY better than Lias Andersson who could not even skate at NHL level until last 3 wks of the season.

Criminally underrated.
And watch, if they ever dare to give what I suggest a fair chance, I'll be proven correct.

I would love for once to not have 50 something guys in camp that have zero chance of making this team ever. Under AV and again under Quinn did not play a single preseason game as a mostly complete team. I’m glad to see he’s opening camp with real lines that’s a start but I don’t want to see the Geertsons and o regans here for 2 weeks

Well it is certainly no demand on my part. I don't know where you get that from. It all has to do with Kakko's play. It's his play that will demand top minutes. I don't disagree he should start slowly, less minutes, but my gut tells me he will quickly "deserve" a prominent role. He has always shined in the spotlight.

This again? Nieves is pushing the best Rangers center in over 20 years and as a legit top line center as it gets to wing? Really? Does still sound logical to you?

The chances are much greater that the Rangers win the Cup for the next several years than Nieves displacing ZBad.

O'Regan has been a good AHL player. at 25 years old, Quinn coached him in college and why not give him a chance. he has more offensive potential than someone like Nieves in my opinion

Things get lost in print. I did not mean to insinuate that it is your demand.

You are right. If his play demands it, then that is where he will be. But Quinn has not handed anyone anything. If his play makes such a demand, it would make all of us happy.

Glad Andersson, Chytil and Howden are all getting C reps in camp and pre-season. Now is a critical time to find out if they are centers. With our current situation on wing, there isn't much top 9 time that can be earned.

Also, not much behind these guys in terms of C depth. Going into next offseason, regardless of how the season goes, knowing if they need to continue looking at getting a high end C prospect for the future is big. Can't really wait and see if these guys are centers much longer.

been a fan since '60's, Ridley trade is I guess 2d worst trade since then, after only Hodge Middleten,
worse than the Norstrom, E.Staal deals; it cut the heart from that team,
even tho it ended up giving us those years w Marcel Dionne, was a huge mistake ...

parallel experience and voice here my friend
just adding I have not yet forgiven Park+Ratelle for Vadnais+Espo
and lest we forget, Joe Zanussi

That's all I was saying. And you know it's very possible Buch will screw the pooch, with a blown coverage or a bad decision and give Kakko that chance.
