Yeah. Everyone said he was kind of a closet badass. But that never really materialized on ice. On the other hand I was never disappointed by him. So maybe it's just that opponents kept their powder dry when Klein was about. But I never felt that. Good solid Ranger though.
Indeed.

FYI

I looked on MSG's schedule and there's no Rangers Training Camp anywhere.

His speed alone can create offense and he plays a very reliable north south (hitting) game. He's also consistent with assignment on the PK and can look to set up someone with his vision on the rush. IMO, he's a very good bottom-6er and is well worthy of his extension with NYR. Now he has to opportunity to show he belongs there. Not to mention he's a pretty solid AHLer, too.

I don't see how that is "awful"....

He’s definitely not awful but you don’t need to play with words either. Calling him a “Bottom-6er” is playing with words. Nieves is capable (generously) 4th liner, that’s it. I’d love to have him on my 4th line but he’s not even a utility player like Fast who could slide into a higher line for a short time if needed. Let’s call a spade a spade.

If you don't yet, follow Vince Mercogliano. He took over at Lohud recently and has been great as a beat reporter so far
Thanks! I checked in on his feed, he has a few things and a video with Lemieux. Just weird overall that this is like a huge season starting for a huge, huge pro sports organization and it seems like nobody is covering it heavily.

The beats that cover this team are easily some of the worst in the sport

Vince has been a breath of fresh air though

I get awful tired of people reading what they want to read here and overreacting. I've not seen "love for Lindgren" in more than a handful of posts, ever. What I HAVE seen is some appreciation for the fact that this is a very young guy who has a chance to bring something a little different and impactful to the look and feel of our D corps, and a number of us would like to see him have a real chance to show whether he can be that or not. Anyone who says the jury is already out on that question is just pushing some horses*** agenda that has no bearing on reality. And there's also a world of difference between wanting to see more of him in the context of THIS year's blend and anticipating whether he still has a slot as the Millers and Lundqvists start rolling in. One camp at a time, please.

While I tend to agree, Andrew Gross was pretty good when he had it. And another dude from LoHud way back when, forgot his name. I could be wrong, but also feel like the issue of coverage is partially due to MSG/Cablevisions policies.

Very surprised MSG isn't doing anything around the camp like last year though, especially with all the hype. Maybe it has to do with the new facilities. Or maybe the team didn't want the distractions and or added pressure for the youths. But this is NY. Cant shield them forever and its probably not a good idea to try.

People have a tendency to view things as if they are playing EA sports and everyone needs to have a 99 rating is speed and agility. Every successful team has role players. Heck, look at when Chicago won the Cup for the first time. Yes, there were very high skill players, but there was a Ben Eager and his contributions. St. Louis had their role players last year.

Not every defenseman needs to be a slick puck mover. There come times when a different skill set is needed by a team.

I know there probably isn't room but I'd love to see Lindgren get a long look. Same with Lettieri in a top six role. These guys may not be world beaters but I think they do certain things very well. Lettieri has a terrific shot and is pretty well-rounded otherwise. Lindgren looks unpleasant to play against. Good role players. Boo as well. It's a numbers game and I don't expect them to get that shot. But I hope they do.
Hey Vinny....aren't you supposed to be on the ice instead of posting in here?

T ... Just weird overall that this is like a huge season starting for a huge, huge pro sports organization and it seems like nobody is covering it heavily.

such a breath of fresh air that training camp is NOT being beaten to death with overheated, moment-by-moment coverage of soon-to-be-forgotten minutiae

when meaningful things happen, they wont be secret - the PS games, player assignments, injuries, drama

we are all enthusiastic about this season, games begin next week, but these days are mostly just easing into camp and then the season

I'd rather have information and ignore it if I choose to than just not get it. It's not that this stuff is super meaningful, it's that people are excited and anything is welcome.
