I’m sure Quinn will give Chytil a game with Kreider and Kakko and then immediately after put Strome between them for the foreseeable future

I don't think there's any way Lemieux isn't a regular.
For sure.

If Kravtsov starts the season in Hartford, move Names up and put Lemieux in on the 4th line.

But otherwise, if Kravtsov starts in the NHL, Lemieux probably isn't going to be more than 13F or rotating with someone on the fourth line.

Before November 1st, waiver claim order is based on the previous seasons' standings.

After that, waiver claim order is based on current season standings.

No "going to the back of the line" so to speak.

So with that in mind, the team could conceivably claim someone on waivers as they are pretty high on the list right now

Islanders will play their top 6 D tomorrow. And we wonder why we look like crap. Most teams this week are icing almost full lineups. We’re playing 19 year olds on our top line.

I really dislike the way this preseason has been run

It’s horrible timing and what not, but I can’t help but to be a little intrigued by JHS who definitely could be cut...

Sounds to me very much like Chytil and Kravtsov are competing for one spot and Chytil very well may have played his way to Hartford. Where as Quinn seems to really like that Kravtsov cares about the defensive part of the game.

This may be exactly what Chytil needs. A wake up call.

I would hope so. He has a higher ceiling than people give him credit for and he's someone the team should be excited to see progress due to his uniqueness within the organization
I think that people sleep on both him and Lindgren. Pep2 has good hands and can cause a riot on the ice. Not afraid of physicality. He may actually be a better fighter than his dad.

i am glad you are not running the coaching staff or roster,
i don't think you understand the purposes and benefits of training camp.

no team ever won the Cup in September,
and btw these games don't count for anything in any way

WEIRd how so many BETTER coaches running camps are doing it the way I would. Especially with a team that has a lot of new faces.

With Quinn, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot of rotation on the roster and NYR/HFD early on.

I am a big Kravy fan. But his decision making hasn’t been good. He seems a little unfocused, up in the blue. It surprises me. I also plain dislike that he has kept growing as much as he have. He got going a bit fast at 6’1-2, now he is what 6’3.5.

But I still think we are getting a Kuznetsov type of performer in 4-5 years.

ADA is our #1 D man i've been saying this for a couple years now

One-Punch T was just sick last night. He could be our best D this season, I agree. Many think we are nuts, but let’s revisit in 8 months.

And I know I am going to get heat for this, but I think Staal was borderline perfect. I followed him closely all shifts and I am not saying that he played great, but I don’t think he is totally horrible every time he hits the ice either.

borderline perfect?

He had a putrid 1st period. The 40 minutes that followed were better though.

Based on Dom Luszczyszyn's projected wins model; Marc Staal is projected to be the 4th worst defenseman in the league at being worth -0.5 wins.

Worst being Erik Gudbranson projected at -0.8.

Just a fun fact

My latestbthinking is the following:

Bread-Zibs-Buch
Kreider-Strome-Chytil
Kravstov-Howden-Kakko
Lemmie-Lias-Fast
Names

Skjei-Trouba
Staal-DeAngelo
Hajek-Fox
Smith

I'm not seeing the reason for this huge backlash of Strome as 2C. It's not ideal but this team isn't fully constructed yet. This type of stuff is going to happen. Also this doesn't mean a change won't occur 2 months into the season if one of the kids proves themselves or a trade is made
Strome had the audacity to win the spot, so we need to trash him for not bowing to the altar of the infallible youth. It's an unpopular opinion, but it's been obvious since Panarin was signed that Strome would start as #2 C.

And like you point out, it doesn't mean things can't change. Players don't have linear paths. If they are down now, they can upswing later. Strome is a placeholder. People were pining for Brassard as a placeholder but the idea of Strome there is offensive.
