The Rangers didn't play well last night. They played well enough to win in game 2. They need to be much better. They need Brassard back. Its the playoffs. You don't want to doubt someone but Brassard is missing playoffs games with an injury which doesn't appear to be that serious. Take a shot and freeze it up. Leetch played with one arm at times in the playoffs.

The Rangers lost game 3 at home after taking the first two games on the road in 2008 against New Jersey and in 2009 against the Caps. The Rangers won game 4 in both series. In the Jersey game 3,Madden won the game in OT. Very similar to last night.

I love Kreider but he was horrible in the first 2 periods. He needs to be very good every night of every game. Hagelin was their best player. The 4th line wasn't much of a factor. They were rotating players with Carcillo getting tossed. Moore is much better on the line. The overall play of the 3rd line has dropped without Brassard. Pouliot misses the net on a 2 on 1. Misses the net and puck comes out the zone. Miller did that in Calgary and he barely played again. Moore's play dropped after game one on the 3rd line. He isn't suited for that role.

In the pre-game show,Sam Rosen said something about Brassard hoping to be back for game 4.

The Rangers need to wake up and stop reading the newspaper about how great they are.

Prust is an *******. Butt hurt over the Rangers not re-signing him. Sather made a comment to Brooks about Prust wanting too much money and Prust went to twitter to cry about it. Baby.

Excellent post, RB!

Bad bounces all night. Got plenty of chances.

Turn the page, win game 3.
Too late dud. Let's hope they can win game four. Thats very important.
I want The Rangers to win two more games against the habs, and then of course take kings or blackhawks in six.
Oh the dream of Henke lifting The Cup in The Garden.

The issue with regard to the officiating is not bias. It is incompetency. First of all, what the hell was the one ref looking at? He's trailing the play, and you can see it's right in front of him. Second, how is Subban allowed to get away with being so reckless with his stick? His own coach saw fit to take him off the ice in the last minute for fear of being called for a penalty , and yet none of the rubes in stripes are witness to it? OTOH, the so-called slew foot on. Dorsett was a complete dive, and Dorsett should be embarrassed by it. That kind of crap leads to refs looking the other way on legitimate penalties. What I also do not understand is how the officials call the ticky-tack stuff and miss the dangerous stuff. It's as if the league has it's priorities half-assed backwards.

On a different note, I am not very impressed with Subban's game. He leaves a lot to be desired defensively, and seems to get tunnel vision when he has the puck. Oh, and Prust has become a dirty jackass.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. Subban absolutely slew foots Dorsett, and to suggest otherwise is just ridiculous! You're the only person on here, with the exception of the Habs fans, that have said it was a dive. Watch the replay! Subban gets the back of Dorse's left thigh with his knee first and then follows through with his skates. Textbook SLEW FOOT!

Tough loss at home. Felt we had the game. We just play differently at home. Not sure what. Tentative maybe or trying to be too perfect. Something.

Still our series to lose. Has are a proud team. Getting swept wasn't in the cards and the refs made sure of that. I like how we didn't over react to the prost hit. We kept composure and carried the play.

This has team had been exposed imo. Defensively they are slow and plodding. Our speed gives them fits.

I like where we are. No panic. Just play our system and roll 4 lines and 6 do and we're good. Brass needs to come back and step needs to be ok.

We still have hank.

Lgr !!

AV likes use the phrase "if I were a betting man". If I were a betting man,I would say Prust won't be suspended. Principal point of contact wasn't the head. That hit has everything the NHL doesn't want in the game. Late. Targeted the player. Prust went after Stepan. He timed it right. The NHL will say Prust hit Stepan in the chest and he rode up on Stepan. Repeat offender. Prust elbowed Volchenkov in the head two years ago. Got suspended for game 4. The NHL will cop out and not suspend Prust a 2nd time.

Of course not! Because they're a pathetic joke. It's too bad, really, the NHL had a real opportunity to grow the fan base for the sport, but with pathetic displays of clearly biased officiating, they can forget that!

I watched it. Dorsett throws his right foot out. Subban makes contact with the left foot. Dorsett tried sell it as a slew foot. And, others here have mentioned it, also. There were ample things to be pissed about in regards to the officiating. That was not one of them.

It's also textbook interference. The play was away from the puck. It was a dirty and cheap. And, it's the type of play that can lead to a game getting out of hand if it's not handled accordingly.

Insane if they do, they cannot let a hit like that go.

A 4th lineer targets a 1st line center in a way that it is -- impossible -- to defend against. I think Weavers hit on Brassard was borderline, because that hit was shoulder to shoulder. Principal point of contact my ***, but that hit was zero point of contact to the head.

This is a (i) late (ii) blindside (iii) hit to the head (iv) from a goon (iv) on a 1st line center. You gonna start letting those go now???

People can complain on any talk about 1st line players or goons in relation to the above, but to some extent you make your own bed. Is this the league they want? Its several steps backwards then.

Was Brassard not playing a doctor/coach decision or Brassard's call? It sounded on Brass before the game like he was gonna play.

Yeah but refs!!!!!

Seriously, blaming the refs is Montreal level ********.

It's not Montreal level every fanbase does it. Kinda lame of you to act like any fan or fanbase is a level above or below another one Do you think you're better than them or better than other NYR fans or something?

The refs DID do a terrible job. Hank's first goal was unacceptable, MSL couldn't get the puck up and we easily could have won 3-1. Plenty of reason to complain, plenty of reason to continue to be happy.

Business as usual in here i see. We lose a game and anti-Hank posters crawl out from under the bridge :shakehead

Rangers failed to score on multiple good scoring chances. Couple that with some bad bounces and the fact that Tokarski played well. **** happens! Move on to next game.

I'm a big Hank guy, but he's got to stop that first goal and I'm sure he'd tell you the same thing.

The other two were just flukey.

And i agree but it is not critizism against Hank for the 1st goal i am talking about and you know that.

How many good chances did the rangers have where they missed the net? Need to start getting them on net. Goalie had enough trouble finding rebounds all game.

Personally I think they let the hit go. Stepan came back--even if they were to suspend Prust it would be two games tops. They look at injuries. High chest--head though--it was close. Player tucks his head down a little and we're talking a couple inches. No question in my mind that that was a dirty hit. Blindside and up high to a player who never even had the puck. The tradeoff of a Prust suspension for a Stepan injury heavily favors the Canadiens. I liked Prust as a Ranger but that was a dick head move. As far as his being upset the Rangers didn't sign him for the money he got from Montreal--he's not nearly worth it and he's never ever going to score another contract like that again from anybody. He's pretty much 4th line material--10-15 point seasons and getting older. Even an older Chris Neil offers more--at least he can skate better.

I thought they played well enough, just couldn't quite finish. That's hockey. a couple of tiny screw-ups and you lose. Stepan didn't pay attention on Montreal's first goal and left the defenseman wide-open. Essentially it became an odd-man rush because he didn't take the open man. Then on the game-winning goal Staal kind of did the same thing.

Hopefully they get this out of their system.

Absolutely, 100 percent. The Rangers miss the net more than any team I can recall. On top of that, when there are rebounds our guys are completely out of position to capitalize. Its pretty tough to bang home a rebound from behind the goal line.

Also, Nash needs to figure out how to move the puck when he makes one of his wheel moves through the zone. He draws people to him, but can't distribute.

Overall, I think that we gave this one away. As bad as we played, we still outplayed the Habs. Chalk this one up to missed opportunities and Tokarski playing out of his ass.

It might not have changed the game (it definitely would have prevented a lot after though), but how can you not at least call interference on that? You have to close your eyes or just be blind to not see that. That was about as textbook as it gets.

Still we need to play better and finish our chances. The Habs didn't get anything done in the first and afterwards we just let them back into the game. Game 4 is a must win now. I really hope Brassard comes back, both our 3rd and 4th lines are much worse with Moore having to replace him.

There was another uncalled slew foot on Montreal during game 2 that was much more dangerous than the one from last night.
