There's two teams in every game. One got the bounces, one didn't. Forget it and move on.

3x this. 3 goals against, 2 where the scorer didn't even take an intentional shot. Put down twitter, stop posting on FB and take a step back.

Did you expect the Rangers to sweep a series?
Did you expect them to win SIX in a row in the playoffs?

The team didn't play great, and still thoroughly outplayed a Habs teams that has shortened their bench and looks exhausted. My confidence has not wavered. The Habs can win this, but they will have to be in survival mode and hope for some bounces to win (last night's playbook). They got those bounces, good for them. Let's see them do it twice in a row, or 3 of the next 4.

Insane if they do, they cannot let a hit like that go.

A 4th lineer targets a 1st line center in a way that it is -- impossible -- to defend against. I think Weavers hit on Brassard was borderline, because that hit was shoulder to shoulder. Principal point of contact my ***, but that hit was zero point of contact to the head.

This is a (i) late (ii) blindside (iii) hit to the head (iv) from a goon (iv) on a 1st line center. You gonna start letting those go now???

People can complain on any talk about 1st line players or goons in relation to the above, but to some extent you make your own bed. Is this the league they want? Its several steps backwards then.

There was nothing borderline about Weavers hit, I wish Rangers fans would stop the Montreal level of whining about that.

Prust's hit was intent to injure pure and simple. Yeah he didn't hit him in the head but he sure as **** went for a kill shot.

It's not Montreal level every fanbase does it. Kinda lame of you to act like any fan or fanbase is a level above or below another one Do you think you're better than them or better than other NYR fans or something?

The refs DID do a terrible job. Hank's first goal was unacceptable, MSL couldn't get the puck up and we easily could have won 3-1. Plenty of reason to complain, plenty of reason to continue to be happy.

I meant Montreal level for this series first of all since even their coach was whining about calls. Second not blaming the refs for a loss doesn't make me better than anyone but at least I don't sound like a brat making excuses. The officiating in this league is consistently bad and maybe tenured fans of this sport should be used to it by now.

Rangers missed too many chances, waited too long. Hesitant overthought

What hurts is that MTL was ready to lose and we missed an opportunity to get our third win...

Officiating was an abomination last night. These games are being called in an effort to prolong series and increase revenue.

Was Subban called once yesterday? He was swinging his stick like an axe yesterday...

Refs missed it?

Prust is a POS.

The refs weren't good that's for sure but they were not the reason the Rangers lost. The Rangers lost because they let a crap team stay in the game. You let teams, no matter how crappy, hang around and stuff like last night happens. Yes, Montreal is awful.

There was another uncalled slew foot on Montreal during game 2 that was much more dangerous than the one from last night.

Weaver on St. Louis after a whistle.

The officiating sucked for us last night but the Rangers got running around after Prust's hit on Stepan and then we had our lines discombobulated again when Carcillo got tossed. Tokarski was good---really good. Two goals against--one his d-man almost saved from going in the net--the other banked in off his own defenseman's skates--not unlike the Briere or Galchenyuk goals. Not Henrik's best night. The Rangers carried the play most of the way but they forced some plays that they'd had better off not forced. Between sloppy play--bad officiating, not being able to finish and lack of discipline--that's usually enough to make it a frustrating night.

Game 4 is now must win. Can't let them even up the series and take back home ice advantage.

I'm not a fan of the huge layoff between Game 3 and Game 4. But I guess it's better than it fell on a weekend so I can take my mind off of the disappointment of Game 3... maybe.

our inability to hit the net showed again last night. Marty had two glorious chances at the side of the net and failed to elevate the puck properly. that's a goal scorers dream and he didn't convert twice.

my gut tells me prust gets one game but my head tells me he gets nothing

in a tight playoff game you hate the referees missing important calls but they did and that made a difference in the outcome

and Rick Nash continues to steal money from the organization

New here so I'll probably get hammered by someone with 30,000 posts under their belt, but I am baffled by the amount of Lundqvist bashing here. He basically let in ONE goal last night. The second was an own goal bounce of McDonough and the third was a bounce off someone's face.

This garbage about Lundqvist controlling that rebound is ridiculous, he directed it towards the corner/far boards. That is the definition of rebound control. You can't absorb every shot. If it is shot at your stick or pads then trying to absorb it frequently results in the puck dropping a few feet in front of you in the slot/crease. I get that we are Rangers fans and are supposed to be ultra pessimistic and all, but at least find some intelligent criticism. The Lundqvist bashing from fellow Ranger fans is embarrassing.

If you want to be critical, how about Carcillo acting like a goon with the ref and screwing up the lines? The Rangers strength is rolling 4 lines all game. Him getting bounced hurt a lot more than people realize.

Kinda Ironic that we were blasting Therrien for saying that bounces and calls are what wins playoff games, and then thats exactly what happens for them in Game 3.

The focus should be solely on Game 4. I want the MSG crowd to really ramp it up. Hopefully the ice is better too. Win that and 3-1 looks awfully nice going up to Montreal.

No doubt the Rangers are a better team, from top to bottom.

Maybe this is sour grapes, but it's how I actually feel.

That game was lost when the refs missed the call on Prust, it completely changed the complexion of the game. The Rangers saw the replay and got angry, and took matters into their own hands. That "charging" call on Carcillo was absolute bull****, and then things were exacerbated when he got into it with the linesman. Which I also have some views on, but don't want to come off as the biggest homer of all time.

Instead of the Rangers having a 5 minute PP, and Prust ejected from the game which is what should have happened, and Montreal playing with 11 forwards; Montreal gets the first PP of the game on the softest of soft calls, and Carcillo gets ejected while Prust roams the ice as a free man.

And who knows, maybe it's a butterfly effect thing. Maybe Prust gets ejected, and by double shifting Patcioretty, he scores 7000 goals and the Rangers lose 7000-0, who knows?

I just really think it changed everything about how the Rangers wanted to play that game. I'm still furious over that hit. Prust should be done for at least three games, and hopefully they give him 4 so he's out for at least this series.

Tough game from Hank. You know he wants goal #1 back. Goal #3 is far from his fault, he was trying to put the puck into the corner, and it would have gone there, I have no problem with that. On this same token, I think this was Staal's worse game in a while. I thought for the most part aside from a few plays, the D as a whole was just very poor.

Tokarski was lights out. The Rangers made him look good on a couple of saves, but on a few more... wow. He left some juicy rebounds at points during the game, too. Need to do a better job of crashing the net and stopping there for rebounds, textbook by Hagelin on his goal. I just think it's so funny how some posters who are so quick to get on Hank, are also the ones who are so quick to praise the opposition netminder at the same time. The way they talk, you'd think Hank is the worst goalie in the world.

Unfortunate because now game four isn't really a *must* win, but really is a *must* win. Puts all the pressure back on us. Maybe that's a good thing for this team.

Good post, extremely frustrating.

Definitely not the best game, but they were a few bounces away from finding a way to be up 3-0. Nash, MSL, and Zucc had glorious chances they couldn't convert on. It sucks, and they have to be better. If they win Sunday they are still in full control. I tend to be a downer at times but this group has earned my trust as a fan.

We were blasting him because he and that entire organization sound like they were hopped up on estrogen during their menstrual cycle.

Apologies to 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of women who don't even come close to whining that bad.

Also for as good as Staal has been these playoffs, he had been consistently the best defenseman until McD stepped up. He was awful last night. It seemed like every replay of Montreal's good chances were when they were going against him, from Gallagher to Desharnais.

In every large group there will be some idiots.

The problem with Hank haters are the people that acknowledge them. Ignore them, who cares? I am sure when Edmonton was winning in the 80's and lost a game 3-1, some dumb fan would be crapping on Gretzky as the reason they lost.

Tokarski played great - gotta tip your hat to him.

If the Rangers keep playing like they're playing, they will win this series.

Montreal looks like a tired team that got a few bounces.

The Canadiens are so beatable. They gutted out a win but I think the Rangers will be more focussed on Sunday. Overall the guys played a very good game but didn't put the knife in and twist.

I have to say that I thought the Montreal fans were slightly more knowledgeable than they appear here on HF Boards.

They sound ignorant, arrogant and simply unable to see anything without 100% complete bias in favor of their Habs.

It is disappointing and annoying.

I can't even read the main boards at this point.

Who would have thought the Pens and Philly fans were more reasonable...

Such a ****** loss. I hate these losses where we dominate a team and they win due to horrible reffing and bad bounces. Such a ****ing **** loss.

MTL could say the same thing about game 2. The worse team has won the last two games.

They went full Rongo last night. The bounces & horrible officiating is a clear sign that this team is Rongoing again.

What I'm about to say is going to piss off bigtime all the Negative Nancy's, edge of the ledge about to jump folks but here it goes:

Just got off the horn with my brother in law who is as big a Canadian fan as there is in the world as he goes back to the Henri Richard,Beliveau days to give you some context and he says basically and I'm paraphrasing here but I think you'll get the point: "Billy I think I speak for most Habs fans in saying we dodged a huge bullet last night as we should have easily lost last night. As much as I hate to admit it, no question your Rangers are clearly the better team and I have not a doubt in the world after seeing what I've seen these past three games, Rangers will likely not only win Sunday but likely win decisively. Rangers are so much faster than I thought. It's as if my team is skating in quick sand compared to Rangers. I'm still in shock we won last night as I thought once it got to OT..it was over and the sweep was on. He went on saying "It pains me to say this but I can't see any scenario where Habs come out on top in the series even with the win last night and if whoever comes out on top out West thinks they are going to roll over Rangers...they are nuts. This is a team that can win the Cup"

I can't say I disagreed with anything he said. Now obviously the Negative Nancy's are going to say one Habs fan doesn't speak for the entire Habs Nation nor obviously the players and organization and blah blah blah as that is there prerogative....whatever!

Bottom line is I think what my bro in law said was an honest to goodness honest assessment of what the reality is in this series. We are dominating, we have the better team, we lost a fluky game last that we easily could have won and there is a 90% if not better chance we are going to win Sunday which will be the 2nd to last nail in the Habs coffin.

Yeah not thrilled Habs got some life but let's get real folks just as my brother in law has, we clearly have the upper hand and one lousy stinking loss doesn't diminish what we have done and where we are very likely headed.
