Flying fort line consisted of three players from Fort Williams. They were Gaye Stewart, Bud Poile and Gus Bodnar. If memory serves me right they were traded together with Bob Goldham and Ernie Dickens to the Black Hawks for famous centerman Max Bentley and Cy Thomas. Max was nicknamed ‘Dipsy Doodle Dandy’.

Correct.

Rangers (deep pockets)

Hmmm... the answer to my trivia question about the only team not to lose a player to the WHA in the first two years of it's existence was Minnesota North Stars - I got this from a Ken McKenzie column in a November 1973 issue of The Hockey News. But your answer sounds very plausible and I couldn't think of anyone offhand that they lost. Bruce MacGregor went to the WHA in their third year. But looking at their 71-72 roster, they had defenseman Mike McMahon for one game. The following year he was a regular with the Minnesota Fighting Saints. So I guess technically, the Rangers did lose at least one player.

1) What team did the California Seals play in their first ever NHL game in 1967 and what was the final score?

2) Over 10 seasons (67-76) how many Head Coaches did the Seals have (?) and Bonus Points if you can name them...

3) Name the Seal who had;

A) All time Shutout Record?
B) All time PIM Accumulation?
C) All Time Points Leader?

All-time highest-scoring Seal is Joey Johnson and I'm guessing the SO leader is Gilles Meloche?

I think you need to check about shout outs-- he had a 9 or 10 with the seals

most penalty minutes I will go with Bob Stewart

If I am not mistaken gary suitcase smith had one less shutout then GM

Nope... Gary Smith.... and Carol Vadnais with 590 PIM's.... Thats two wrong answers jts. :(

Ok, I'll try all of these.

1. I remember they won their first game and I think it was against the Flyers or North Stars.

2. Nine coaches

3a. Gary Smith
b. Carol Vadnais
c. Not entirely sure here either but one of Johnston, Hicke or Hampson?

Flyers and Joey Johnston the correct answers.... and jts, you cheated. Scanned that from someplace ha? :naughty:

] you cheated. Scanned that from someplace ha?

Oh man, I jumped in on this too late! I could have named nearly all of those without looking them up - I even knew Marshall Johnston spent a few games behind the bench! I would have got the goalie question wrong but I knew my avatar was the leading scorer.

Who were the three goaltenders to play without masks in the WHA?

Andy Brown/Indy Racers is the easy one. The other two... hmm. Les Binkley and Al Smith were also guessed and those are very good candidates. I know WHA goalies pretty well but this one has me stumped.

Actually now that is lunchtime for me, I will provide the answer to the three barefaced goalies that the WHA featured:

Andy Brown (easy guess)-Indianapolis Racers (1974-75 to 1976-77)
Joe Daley-Winnipeg Jets (1972-73)
Bobby Perreault-Los Angeles Sharks (1972-73, 1 game)

Notes: Bobby Perreault was a cousin of the more famous Gilbert Perreault and played in the Montreal, Detroit, and Boston organizations during the 1950s and 1960s and then resurfaced as a Los Angeles Shark after a number of years in the minors. Finished his years as a pro as a Greensboro General the following season. Joe Daley donned a mask the following season and wore one for the remainder of his career. Andy Brown, of course, the most famous here as he played all of his years in WHA barefaced (last professional to do so). Ones like Les Binkley and Al Smith were wearing masks by the end of the 1960s, well before the WHA was created.

Nice! I should have got Daley, I remember now seeing pics of him on the Jets sans mask.

Can anyone here name the five different pairs of players who have played together as teammates in over 1000 NHL regular season games?
