i'm almost positive i've opined about this before but can someone tell me why people would buy a fantastic driving car like a 911 of any stripe and just bring it out on special occasions? I would drive the shit out of it. Sort of related but does anyone have one of those apps that track your driving habits for your insurance company and do you know if all drivers on your policy have to use it in order for you to get a discount or just one okay? Also a few of them claim it won't negatively impact your rates but I'm not sure i trust that. If it notices i drive over 100 fairly regularly (in bursts) would they just straight up decline to send me a renewal?
Amen brother. Porsche in particular has made it very obvious they want their cars to be
driven, not collected. They're putting out content right now that is simply unreal. Nobody does precision like Porsche. I know you actually have a real topic to talk about in the rest of your post but instead of addressing it I am going to go full ADHD and blab on how much more I've been turned on to Porsches than I used to be.
Cayman GT4 RS: I'm going to say it right now, it's the best-sounding 6-cylinder car ever made. Fight me otherwise. The engine note almost reminds me of the (borderline untouchable) Lexus LFA. My favorite PDK Porsche.
911 GT3: Might not sound quite as good as the GT4RS but it's better looking and performing at the track IMO. Plus you can get the touring version with an awesome short-geared GT manual tranny and drive it on the road like it's a freaking Miata on super-steroids. I personally like daily-driving a manual and would prefer the PDK at the track, so a 911 GT3 Touring in Shark Blue and the 6-speed might theoretically be my ideal Porsche. I'm trying not to think about how awesome the GT3RS will be.
911 Turbo S: Probably the best supercar for the daily on the planet, and with winter tires and the axle lift system it can handle winter too given the AWD. I'll put it short and sweet: If you're trying to race against one of these and you're not in a Model S Plaid, a multi-million dollar hypercar, or a comically overtuned monstrosity (all three of which I don't like)...then you will lose. You will lose, and you will probably lose badly. It also just so happens to be reasonably comfortable and accommodating too...you just have to be careful with it because once those turbos kick in you will have been transported out of this solar system. I would lament that you can't get it with a manual but I'm not sure I could easily control
this car with one.
Then you have the Carrerra models that are a blend of the racing and daily-driving features, and much closer to "affordable." There's also other models like electric shit that I couldn't care less about because I absolutely HATE HATE HATE electric cars from an enthusiast standpoint.
There's only one problem: right now it's borderline impossible to get a GT4RS or GT3, and those are the ones I'd want the most. I love the Turbo S but I don't trust myself in it.
tldr please someone buy me a 911 GT3 or a Cayman GT4RS with the Weissach package
