we can even sweeten the pacioretty for rakell and fowler deal with some cost controlled replacements. hudon for example, maybe reway, maybe both. solves some immediate headaches for the ducks and fills their first line left winger spot about as cheaply as you can. there also ready than to get lindholm signed. win win win win for everybody.

If they are playing a young guy at 1 LW, its probably Nick Ritchie. No need for Hudon really.

that would be more of a depth addition more that anything. pacioretty on a line with getzlaff and perry would be the new legion of doom.

No it wouldn't. Getz and Perry aren't that dominate anymore. Patches does not make that line anything incredible.

So many Anaheim fans have here said there are no cap problems and everything is perfect.

What are you on about? We all knew cap crunch was incoming. The consensus like three months ago was that BM wouldn't let it drag on so long and actually would do something about it.

Clearly, we underestimated BM's willingness to wait.

Huh? They easily match anything under $5mil and figure out the rest of the cap later.

If they did that then somebody could so easily swoop in and give one to Lindholm, and they probably wouldn't have the space to match that one. They are so vulnerable to an offer sheet, I'm a little surprised that nobody has tried to snatch up Lindholm that way. Maybe they have for all we know, and he turned it down.

Have fun signing Lindholm after matching. Especially if someone sees the opportunity and offer sheets Lindholm, which would force Anaheim to sacrifice something big. More than all of those "lesser prospects" that are always talked about in Ducks threads. Nope, they would have to go to the deep end. Montour, Theodore, whoever. Or, you know, Lindholm. At least you would get picks back.

thought you guys were looking for a first line left winger. also assumed there could problems signing rakell. pacioreetty for 3 more years at 4.5 isnt bad. what would it REALISTICALLY take to finish this equation ? fowler plus rakell for pacioretty and ______ . fowlers and paciorettys contracts are pretty much a wash.

I noticed that too.

The only conclusion I could draw after reading multiple trade threads is that everything is peachy and the Ducks are in no hurry to trade anyone to clear cap space unless it iss an awesome overpayment for one of their players.

No worries there.

Anaheim shouldn't have signed Vermette to a 2 year deal at 1.75mil a season and Jared Boll to a 2 year deal at 900K a season, for starters.

2.65mil that Vermette and Boll are making this season should have gone to some of Rakell's contract assuming Rakell signs for somewhere in the neighborhood of 3mil a season.

Max P is the last thing the Ducks need, another big forward that disappears in big games. Perry and Getzlaf have done that enough the last couple season, hopefully RC gets a fire under their *****.

In lot of the "Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk" threads when someone has asked about the cap issues some of the Anaheim fans have been either simply ignoring those questions or pretty much answering there are no problems.
I've tried to ask many times what do you think is going to happen and never gotten a real answer.

Here we are with 7.5M cap space with Rakell& Lindholm unsigned and pre season has started.

Did ROR have an out clause when he left?

I see that some guys doesn't know what they are talking about.

Yes. there was a clause when ROR left.

"Unlike the exodus of NHL players joining European leagues on short-term contracts, O'Reilly signed a two-year contract with the conditional opt-out clause in returning to the NHL if an agreement with the Avalanche was met."

With our training camp starting today and 2 players still aren't signed. It's going to be interesting the rest of the month. And you are right someone will most likely eventually offer sheet soon.

Basically this. If they don't want to sign we are eventually gonna be forced to move on and trade both players rights. It's simple as that
