It seems not that long ago that Polanco was in the 0.220 range for the season. Its been a pretty torrid pace recently.
Last season there was much debate as to whether it was time to make a trade splash to become a genuine contender, and many seasoned observers here said it was too early. Now the Pirates look like as much of a contender as almost anyone. Pretty deep as regards batters and very good relief pitching plus capable starters. But ONE more really good starter after Cole and Liriano wouldn't hurt at all with AJ being a big questionmark coming back from injury and retiring after the season.
Too expensive to countenance? Because it is no longer too early, I think all can agree on that, right? Even a rental might do, what with what is in the pipeline.
