IMO Quintana's highest value is if he strings 3-4 more solid 5-6IP starts together and is aggressively shopped. His value is in stabilizing a rotation and helping a solid team have a chance to win every 5 days in order to make the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the slightly expanded playoff format may now muddy the waters even longer as teams look to drag their feet rather than fully commit. Maybe an exception would be the Phillies, since Dombo couldn't give two shits about his prospects and they have already created an extraordinarily difficult hole vs. a team that will get Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom back at some point.

I'd be happy to be wrong, but I think the benefits of selling are going to be nonexistent unless BC does something really unpopular like shops Bednar. Teams just do not trade impact type talent anymore, and while it's foolish to rule anything out absolutely (since there's always the possibility of a long-shot early development pickup a la Tony Watson for Cruz), I don't see much of a point. We already have a lot of depth and guys who need to earn/get their shot and go from there.

If I'm hoping for anything, it's that we can get some change of scenery type pitching in minor deals for Newman or Gamel, and/or a change of scenery type prospect. I think Jo Adell is too high profile for what kinds of chips we have to offer, but he is an optimal change of scenery guy because he is struggling terribly with Ks in AAA and his stock has to be nosediving.

I think teams anymore will only trade top prospects if they are filling multiple holes and for years and control.

For instance, a team needs a lefty masher and bullpen help. Crowe and Chavis for someone's 6th ranked prospect. But is that really worth it for us? Chavis and Crowe could be a big part of a winning team in 2023.

This one's mostly been a real dud, but nice to see Swaggerty stay hot at the plate. Another multi-hit game, including a double and HR to straightaway center that he crushed.

Yeah, pretty big step back for Brubaker. If we were going to pull off the miracle comeback, I think the obvious turning point was Vogelbach's AB. Melancon left some pitches up early in the count and he should have been able to knock a single at least, but it's his first game back and the pitching wasn't what it needed to be, so no sense pointing the finger.

Nice to see the team not just roll over. Hopefully Roansy can turn in a good performance tomorrow to even things up.

I'm not really liking Vogelbach at the dish anymore. I haven't been for a while, including his injury. Teams are just working him away and daring him to go the other way, and he won't or can't. He does have a good eye but he just doesn't cover enough plate for me.

Castro is indeed an idiot. You run everything out. Period.

Contreras stuff is pure sex. Location of the fastball is sublime. Multiple pitches that inning the catcher didn't move his glove qn inch.

Chang is worthless. Those are the moves I just loathe. Especially when you have options in AAA.

Yeah disappointing final moment, but nothing to worry about at all. Extremely encouraging outing today, he had everything working. Hopefully Underwood keeps it here and the offense decides to show up.

The umpires have just been awful in this series so far in terms of it being a crapshoot whether they will call the edges or not. Last night, there were back to back pitches in the same location that were called differently, and today it's been more of the same. Sometimes the zone is expanded, other times it's tightened up.

Just run of the mill incompetence, but can't complain excessively given the offensive performance.
