Raise it!

Hayes pretty much won that game himself. We desperately need Reynolds to do something positive for a stretch. I mean there are some potential bats on the way, even this year, but BR falling back to his covid 2020 production flat out kills our lineup, which is already up against it as it were. We can literally DFA half the players who are regularly getting AB's right now.

I'm guessing Contreras pitches tomorrow. Nobody is announced and he's on full rest now. Fingers crossed.

Reynolds has been embarrassingly unclutch. I haven't checked the stats but he can't be hitting better than .100 with guys on base.

I skip through games for the most part but from what I could tell Brubaker had his + stuff again. He actually has been very encouraging over the last month. Definitely above Keller and Wilson on the totem pole right now.

Thankfully Wilson is gone, and Keller is not far behind him, though I think they'll keep Keller up longer than others, and just shift him to a bullpen trial.

Interested to see Santos out of the pen. He's got some pretty electric stuff and has been extremely dominant thus far in Indy and has been pitching really well pretty much the last 3 seasons. Hypothetically he could be a 7th-8th inning guy, with Crowe being the MR go to arm when you're up past the 5th inning.

We really need Contreras to become a plus starter. That would be such a huge jolt in the arm for the ML team. I'm not expecting a world beater, especially early on, but a stabalizing force that is capable of getting through a lot of starts (5-6) where he's not giving up 5 or more ER would be so refreshing and he certainly has talent/stuff to be a #1. My biggest worry is the coaching staff. Will they be able to get a plus prospect to hit as a starter?

Oddly I prefer our odds with a smaller guy. I don't think we try to do too much with Roansy - we just let him figure it out. Versus, I dunno, maybe this org has had a past history of outthinking itself when it comes to pitchers.

I don't know how quick he is to the plate exactly but I imagine he'll be much better with guys on base than Keller is and Glasnow was (as a Pirate). Glasnow was so long to the plate and Keller mentally implodes if a runner reaches first. Which is a problem because he can't manage a clean inning for the life of him.

I wouldn't mind rushing Burrows at all. Guy has upper echelon stuff and is dominating in Altoona. Unlike with hitters I don't really care that much about pitchers going to AAA. Stuff is stuff and command is command.

Kevin Newman to the 60 day DL.

Get Cruz up asap. Please.

Still not ready.

Sending Keller down because he's not performing during a season like this seems like an emotional reaction rather than using that good old logic & reason IMO.

Check out Fangraphs' Bucs prospect list. I feel like they do a great job evaluating both performance, and tools.

That top 10 seems really tight at the moment. Best one I've seen so far based upon the first third of the season.

Now I hope he doesn't sit on the bench 80% of the time. Nice to see the promotions beginning.

Still no official word on Roansy but I'm guessing it's coming closer to game time.

I agree on Cruz. I'd like to see him get on a nice hot streak and then transition up, but there comes a time when AAA just isn't going to move the needle.

Keller has been around long enough to show us that his struggles aren't an aberration, they're the norm. Maybe he figures it out. I've seen this song and dance before though and if he ends up pitching well enough, it won't be with this club and for that reason he has no value to us long term, when you hope to be winning in the next year or 2. He simply cannot be a starter on a winning ball club with the runs he gives up way more often than not.

I see your points. But think the Bucs will disagree with you.

I'd expect them to haha. I think he'll get tried as a bullpen arm and see if he can pull a Wil Crowe before completely cutting ties. But I just don't see a starter there. 90% of the time he's just not passable as a starter. Certainly not for a team that wants to win.

In other news, I'll be at the Harrisburg/Altoona game this evening to catch some Gonzo, Peguero, and company. Omar Cruz is on the mound for us. Suck Davis is hurt, was really excited to see him. I'll likely hit up another game or 2 over the weekend.

Can't wait for the detailed scouting report. 😁

Gonzo got nicked by pitch in first. Sabol grounds into DP.

Interesting that Joe Ross is pitching for harrisburg.

No Peguero which is strange coming off break. Gonzo playing SS.

Marcano with a nice oppo line drive to score Sabol. Kid has the nicest swing of anyone in the lineup, including Gonzo who is clearly more power based, though he has super quick hands. Compact swing.
