These base running errors are getting old. Don't understand why we're still playing by the old school method of go on anything hit on the ground from 3rd. It's just archaic baseball.

Still, what a comeback. Hopefully we get another late inning, slam the door in your face performance by the pen.

And as I type that, CRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ!!!

Cruz has singlehandedly taken all the bleh I've been feeling over the past few days about the team and launched it into the Allegheny.

I watched the Cruz homer on twitter with my gaming headphones on and boy is Cruz a classic example of the ball sounding different off of some guy's bats.

He is as big of a physical freak there is in baseball in a sports age of freakish athletes.

That's a real bummer. Not sure I like just leaving him out to dry but he should have gotten the job done. Let's hope we can keep it tied and at least we don't have to worry about Hader.

I feel like extending Cruz would actually be quite the gamble for both the Pirates and Cruz. It's not like extending Hayes, where even if the bat struggled you'd still get value out of the platinum glove caliber defense. Cruz's effectiveness as a MLBer is highly dependent on whether he can stay at SS and how much contact he can make with the ball.

I don't mean that to say they shouldn't do it, I think they should do it, but I wouldn't be mad if the Pirates and Cruz wouldn't be able to come to an agreement yet. I'd be much more willing to give Cruz whatever he'd want if I saw another season of him playing the defense he has played this year.

I wonder how much it would take this off-season to get Cruz for 10-11 years....

I was assuming 8 years and $100 million would get him, so if you're going 10-11, you're probably looking at $140 million to $160 million. That 8 year, $100 million deal is the same deal Acuna got (without the option years at the end) and is fairly similar to the first 8 years of Franco's contract ($107 million).

Maybe you can bump off a bit because Cruz is older than Acuna and Franco when they got their deals, but I don't think it would be much. My bet would be that you'd have to pay Cruz more than you paid Hayes on the same term.

It's beginning to feel like 8 years @ a hundred mil is a good move. He's making some nice progress the last week. Loving the attitude so far as well, something I have been more concerned about previously.

This kid is an absolute legend. He'll have this for the rest of his life haha.

That's going to go all around the world. An all-time great teenage troll job.

Almost felt bad for Bob. Almost.
