Hayes would be a completely next level hitter if he could actually elevate a baseball when he gets triple digits in terms of EV.

Waaaay too many hard hit balls are just not elevated.

Brubaker is doing a good job of hitting his spots and not giving in so far. A lot of times on the road trip, it just seemed like even when a pitcher would get a lucky bounce or have the chance for a clean inning, they would throw a pitch in a good count in a terrible location. Even though Brubaker was trying and failing to get Narvaez to chase there, he slammed the door on a leadoff double and is still perfectly fine to cruise through 5 or 6.

Absolute monster HR by Cruz.

That's the impact of good discipline there. Taking 2 pitches outside of the zone forced Houser to go in the zone, and Cruz just belted the changeup that was down the middle.

I would just like to make you aware that I was in the middle of a very good bowl of cannabis when Cruz/Suwinski went b2b. And elevated state of mind. Fantastic experience watching 2 young guns showing the damage they will inflict on P when balls are left middle of the zone.

Cruz has impressed me with his adjustments. He needed to get more patient to enhances his skillset, and he showed that the last few games, and we've seen the AB to AB adjustments as well. Again, a lot of big hits are mistake pitches. You need guys who can work a P into the habit of going to the plate to get strikes. The really great hitters did/do that.

I'd like at least 8 tonight to feel comfortable given it's the Brewers and just started the inning w/a leadoff 2 bagger....

And Brubaker promptly comes out all over the place and then throws a cement mixer to Yelich. Hopefully he can just keep the damage to a minimum here -- 3-2 sucks, but make the pitches, get the outs, and get the offense back up.

Cruz nuked it! Then Suwinski hit one just about as hard.

Top of the leaderboard for "next guys to lock down spots" looking good...hope Marcano gets back tomorrow.

I'm beating a dead horse with this but I really like their lineup going into next year with Madris, Cruz and Suwinski as the main power providers from the left side. They just need some hitting ability from righties.

Davis and Gonzalez are going to be incredibly important because of that.

Also feel bad for Houser there, you don't like seeing pitchers get injuries like that.

Good work from Brubaker there after Yelich. This is almost it's own kind of test for a rotation anchor. Getting 5-6, 2 runs would be ideal, and Brubaker can just pitch to the score. If we add on, it gives him some more leeway to attack.

I think a lot of his game sinks or swims with getting the chase pitches going and keeping guys really uncomfortable. It's a bit of an interesting call in terms of how long to ride him tonight. You need to go for 6 IP from guys like him when he can do it, but situationally, you might not want him to face Tellez or Cutch again if the game is close. At the end of the day I don't think we have the RPs to make it matter, so I lean towards letting the starters stay in the game.

Agree on everything, sans maybe Madris. I think, if they get a chance, you'll see a Marcano/Bae combo between LF/2B next spring. Madris needs to prove himself over a few more weeks before I start to pencil him in.

Obviously we all hope Davis and Gonzo are middle of the order impact bats, but the reality is it's probably going to be 1 of 2. I personally think both will be well above average bats but it rarely turns out that way. If we get 1 perennial AS (preferably Davis given his position) and a solid bench guy, you're probably not raging much. Again, I'm saying they both will reach AS peaks, almost exclusively with their bats.

Really bummed about Gorski because he was juuuust starting to get into that position where he was crushing AA over enough AB's to raise your intrigue level. Was past 100 AB's and OPS well north of 900 at that level. If he kept up that pace for the 2nd half, he'd clearly be somebody to keep a closer eye on. Hopefully he can come back next spring and make quick ground up.

Yeah, Houser clearly hurt there. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

I have Madris as a DH/1B/backup OF going forward. I don't really view him as an OFer, I think he becomes a DH or 1st baseman. Basically the role Vogelbach is in.

Really huge HR there from Perez. I don't know if I trust Brubaker to keep them at 3 -- he's mostly been good, but then a couple of these ABs he's just starting missing and the Brewers jump all over him.

Nice ABs from Suwinski and Perez to make Suter work. He was dotting his pitches at first. I also like going to Castillo here. Park showed some things on this callup and should keep his 40-man spot, but it's obvious that he's gotta go when Newman is ready and Castillo is the better defender anyways.

I'm not sure what to do with Madris, but I think he's continued to earn playing time, so maybe he, Gamel, and Suwinski will share it in a kind of rotation, and perhaps Gamel will play some 1B as well. Madris is taking good ABs for the most part and hitting the ball hard. He's definitely someone I'd just let get a lot of playing time this year, and even if it's not totally consistent, that's ok, as longer term he might fit more as a part-time player anyways as @Empoleon8771 mentioned.

Mayo's turn for the Pipeline mock this week and he has us taking Collier: Mock: Jones, Holliday headline, as OU's Horton joins Round 1

"This still could very much be the home for Brooks Lee, and Johnson is a possibility, but Lou’s kid’s name keeps coming up."

Has us taking IMG LHP Jackson Ferris in the comp round, which would be a great result. I think those picks are much more dart throws based on general guessing of who goes in that range. I think the ideal result for me would be us nabbing one of the prep guys with #4 and one of the prep pitchers like Ferris or Walter Ford with the comp round pick, with maybe a college pitcher or Rocker as a dark horse.

It's bizarre to see Narvaez getting these borderline calls all night because he seems to really yank his glove when he frames stuff.
