Blowout loss to KC. Under 0.500 now.

10 teams have 7 wins right now.

9-8 won’t get you into the playoffs.

Winning 4 straight to close the year is still banking on tie breakers to get you in.
The natural consequence of years of idiotic trades, non-trades that should have happened, and a C+ QB whose greatest consistency is that he fades late in the season.

I think 9-8 might get a team into the playoffs with where everything is heading. Don't know if the Raiders can get there with that record, but a bunch of 7-6 teams makes me think the final team in just might be 9-8.

Or you could just say they had probably the worst roster going into the season in the division and the nice wins of coin-flip games at the start of the season probably got the fanbase a little too optimistic.

This should lower the ticket prices at least. But do I really want to pay to watch this team?

The Gruden emails along with Ruggs car accident.

loses to giants, Bears, WFT. Needed 2 wins out of that.

Browns, Broncos, Colts and Chargers to close.

Their season win bet total was 7.5 or 8 so they are about in line with the betting market expectations, but adding in the loss of Gruden and Ruggs, plus the turmoil both caused seems like this team is right about where they should be. They just aren't that good and all the mistakes with the draft in recent years puts them in a tough situation to get better.

OL remake didn’t give them the running game they desired.
Losing their deep threat for a couple of games til they replaced him with Jackson and the time he needed to get up to speed. Need Edward’s to take a step. But he tops out as a wr2 not a 1.
Need to finish in the red zone better. That cost them the giants game. Cole has kicked too many sub 30 yard FGs again this year.
DLine needs upgrade in the middle to stop the run.
Corners need to be both better and healthy. Need to tackle better. Bradley who coaches the Hawks to a great D must have gone nuts theoughout the season at the raiders poor tackling technique.

Jackson is a band-aid that can't stay around much longer and all the other spots you mentioned are a growing issue because of draft misses. I think they'd be smart to blow things up and rebuild right away. There is no path to 11-12 wins in front of them with the guys they got and the 4th place schedule is easy compared to the 3rd place schedule.

Look at the difference in who 3rd (Chargers) vs 4th (Broncos) play this season
Vikings/Lions
Texans/Jags
Patriots/Jets

Chargers lost two of those games that the Broncos easily won and its like this most years. Better just to tank from this point, decide how much longer you want Carr and if its not long-term get rid of him after the season ends. People will keep paying high prices in Vegas for a few years so might as well take advantage of it and put out the worst team possible next year and then hope you improve from there.

They probably don’t want to tank playing in a new city, even if they should.

So hard to out a team back once you tank. You need to hit on so many picks. That is something the raiders failed to do. That was supposed to be what they did after the mack deal but they already cut Ruggs and Arnette. Ferrell likely on his way out in the summer.

Jacobs a good rookie year but combination of injuries and OL issues his impact these past 2 years hasn’t been that great. Abrams needs to learn to tackle better. Hard hitter but needs to get guys to the ground. Leatherwood is a Guard not a Tackle. dillishaw that the Vikings took is a legit OT.
Bowden and Muse blown 3rd round picks. Ouch…

see how many of these guys were Gruden’s picks.

but it’s another year where the raiders fall after a good start.

3-0 then a run of 3-7 right now.

These are all excellent points. Everyone knew coming in Gruden is an old-school guy who doesn't necessarily believe in the analytical value ideas most follow now in GM offices. That fit well with the Raiders and Mayock is the same kind of guy, someone who "sees" a talent and then wants it instead of thinking how they can win just by being more optimal in using it. Like most teams just aren't going to take an RB in the first round any more and there is plenty of evidence to show why you shouldn't, but the Raiders still did it. And of course the Ferrell pick was just horrendous Raiders strategy blunder when there was little doubt he'd be there at least 15 picks later. Lets see if they actually get smart in catching up to the league because if they just keep making "Raiders picks" and then see them fail to make an impact this team is going to be in the gutter a long time without some strategically spent time near the bottom.

I don't think I'd condone a Jags/Texans type of tank where you make sure you get a top 3 pick, but more a situation where you clear out bad cap hits, veterans who don't have many years left and any assets who can get some real returns. This would be enough to get them 4th in the AFC West and get an easier schedule, plus it gives the new coaching staff a chance to bring in their own systems and "guys" over a year or two during a period where you aren't exactly sacrificing playoff potential.

The Arnette pick makes no sense to me either. A lot of these picks should have been different.

Josh Allen was the consensus pick instead of Ferrell. A DE to rotate in with Crosby and Njockwie.

Jacobs is not an all world back like Cook. If he was that then you can justify the pick.

Ruggs is a WR that is not a WR1. Can’t just rely on him to make a play for you consistently like a Lamb or Jeudy. Great speed guy for your receiver group.

Arnette was a reach. Free agency occurs before the draft. If you don’t expect CB to be around for your draft slot then you need to fill that hole via FA.

and Leatherwood. There were better OT who are tackles in the board.

and 3rd round picks like Muse and Bowden should not be cut after 1 year. Need to make use of them.

not to mention the picks for AB and Bryant from Pitt.

Gruden sucks so him having to resign was a blessing but the timing of it was bad. I have no doubt Gruden had a part in drafting as well but Mayock was supposed to be the draft guru and as we've seen the results have been atrocious. His picks this year better pan out or he should be unemployed as well.

With a new DC and any improvement on defense this team should have been in the wild card mix. The margins between being a 7 win team and 10 is not much. Hopefully the next head coach is not another retread dinosaur.

Red zone offense needs work. How many TD passes does Carr in the RZ to a WR not named Renfrow? Cole has kicked way too many sub 30 yard FG these past 2 seasons.

Browns-Raiders game reportedly moved to Monday due to COVID-19 outbreak on Browns

The NFL experienced multiple teams with large COVID-19 outbreaks this week.

Saturday game moved to Monday 5pm PT
Don't think this delay will get many of the Brown's players available for the game. But, hoping more to contain this outbreak so that no more players come up positive. Either this week or next week would be a short week for the Raiders. NFL should have made the call before the Raiders were set to fly out on Thursday.
