i'm seeing some archetypes emerging here in the new crop ...

RHP > new Gallagher?
Harris > new Gorges?
Guhle > new Weber (potential to be better, I wasn't a huge fan of Habs Weber)
Suzuki > new Plekanec (less speed, better shot?)

Dach, Caufield and Xhekaj no real Habs comparables that I can think of in the last 20 years... feel free to add though

Xhekaj -> Bigger badder better version of Emelin
Caufield -> Stephane Richer
Dach -> closest would be Robert Lang ?

His s% in those season was still lower. You can think 25+ is sustainable if you want but history proves otherwise.

It wasn't, I never said it was, only that using Byron as an example is not the best because injuries impacted his abilities a lot at the same time as his drop in scoring.

Gallagher was a great player for us in his prime. Hard to see RHP equaling let alone eclipsing what Gallagher did in those prime years.

I hope Suzuki eclipses prime Plekanec. I also hope he eclipses Koivu.

Yeah, if Harris can be Gorges I'll be very happy with him. Gorges played good top 4 minutes in his prime.

I don't expect Guhle to eclipse prime Weber, but I would love it if he could eclipse prime McDonagh.

New ones:
Caufield > Cammalleri
Dach > Bobby Smith (or Kotkaniemi, ha)
Struble > Chiarot?
Heineman > Zednik (we hope)
Ylonen > Martin Rucinksky (at least it would be nice)
Mesar > Petrov, Samsonov at his best

RHP passed over until he was 20 for the draft, played as an overager the following year. He only earned an AHL contract. He worked hard and got an NHL deal.
You won't find more a more determined young player.
7th round pick passed over through 2 drafts and has worked his way into the NHL. Cool story.

Evans, Xhekaj and him are great role models for the youth. Work hard, never give up and follow your dreams son.

Yeah it's a good story, similar to Xhekaj in some ways. I'm curious to see how much that determination is going to become a part of the identity of the team given that MSL is the poster boy for being passed over but working hard and overcoming the odds to be a star.

What's holding RHP from becoming a poor man's Marchand? Since juniors to early professional days he's pretty darn close on production. I'd argue he's less of an agitator, doesn't skate as fast and probably won't develop as well. But at this time, they are very good comparables imo.

What the hell are you doing with 43 tabs open?

Haha also had Lang. Was meh with us, but had a decent career overall. For Caufield, my choice is Gionta.

Edit : just saw Cammalleri. Good pick. Him and Gionta in the blender gives you Caufield.

I originally had Cammalleri, but Caufield I feel has a bit more dynamism to his game. Still a good comparison though!

To me Suzuki has Koivu's skills but Plekanec's non-chalance/lesser physicality.

I feel like Suzuki has something that not too many players have, including Koivu. And that may allow him to eclipse post knee injury koivu.

Also, Suzuki is very cerebral in his board battles and aggressive play. Hopefully that will allow him to win his share of puck battles without suffering all the injuries Koivu did.

The thing I like most about RHP is no matter what line he plays on, he plays the same way and is still effective wherever he plays and whoever he plays with. Due to this he was able to work himself from our 4th line to the top line since his recall.

In comparison, Pitlick succeeded last year with more offensive opportunity, then has been bad most of this year playing less minutes with worse linemates.

He tailed off after a hot start but he has been plugging away and being rewarded again.

He earned this and I hope he keeps it going next year. A couple of smaller guys is no issue.

He almost scored against boston. That would have given him 5 goals in recent games - the hat trick, last night, and in Boston.
