It is odd that she’s had two jobs in the NHL and ended up getting fired after a couple months of receiving them.

I know one was because the regime change in New Jersey but there has to be something else there. She was hyped up to be one of the rising stars in hockey mgmt

This is super weird, especially with the reports earlier this month that she'd received a small promotion onto the coaching staff's video team for challenges etc.

But the push-pull with Doerrie was always that she was obviously super-smart, but also a loose cannon so I wouldn't be totally shocked if she did something to shoot herself in the foot.

This would be a total non-story, though, if it was any of the hundreds of other people around the NHL in her job/role.

In a team environment, have to be able to work well with others regardless of how smart you are.

Oh, for sure. And like I said above, my impression is that she's a loose cannon who is young and rash and doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut and 'play the game' so to speak.

Good organizations should be able to mold people like this, though.

If you're palpably obnoxious and unpleasant even in comparison to other people with hockey podcasts, I don't think any organization has the spare time to mold you. Her actual credentials and talent aside, all she did in public was speak with relish about how stupid and wrong absolutely everyone else on earth was, and what we're seeing now indicates may be that way in private as well.

Is all this just speculation because she deleted all her tweets?

Some people just do that as a “reset” from what I’ve read. Doesn’t have to be related to their day job, could be for any number of reasons.

Man does this market need some regular hockey games to start lol

Edit: saw the Rick Dhaliwal clip, carry on lol

Like I said, she didn't play the game. And it was great in a media setting, but you could actively watch her burning bridges.

That said, there is still seemingly a different standard for females. Brian Burke has been a self-involved, self-promoting asshole for 40 years and he's still getting NHL jobs.

You have a link to the clip or time it happened at?

Don't virtue hire, hire based on merit alone. This woke bullshit has gone way to far. Esports is a perfect example of why you can't hire based on virtue. If they can't handle a person like her being competent then I am very worried for the future of the team right now.

Loved her remarks about Jim Benning gluing macaroni to construction paper but can also see how that kind of unfiltered approach would wear thin rapidly. Let's see how it all shakes out I guess.

She was at a significantly lower position level than Burkie. I can imagine her taking Rutherford's words literally, when he publicly said he wanted different opinions in the room. She may have lacked the communications skills to present her opinion objectively and also, not known when to stop.

Which is it? Did they virtue hire or did they hire her and then realized they couldn't handle that she was competent? Having difficulty following your logic here.

I distinctly remember seeing Ann Coulter on television for the first time. I had no idea who she was or what her position was on anything, but I thought to myself: this person is so shitty it's just burning into my brain and I want to be as far as possible from her right now. That's kind of how I felt listening to Doerrie's podcast for the first time. She just sounded like a teenager haphazardly saying mean stuff about people she didn't like rather than an expert on a certain subject trying to convey information to an audience. Whereas Brian Burke is a dick, but he's a dick in a way that's direct, understated and aimed at certain targets and if you give him a bit of space he shuts up.

Yeah Brian Burke should be case example one for how people can be belligerent assholes and burn all the bridges they want, but as long as youre in the OBC and fit the mould youre fine

One thing I do see is that the sort of twitter generation has been raised too much on witty quips and dunking on people. Twitter is a f***ing cesspool that begets nothing of value in terms of creating real dialogue, its entirely built around the witty dunks and you cant have a meaningful conversation back and forth in 150 characters or less

The more I think about it, the more I think she spoke up about the Aquilini claims. She even liked thestanchion’s tweet recently relating to Aqua.

it'd explain why the team is in pr crisis mode if her firing had anything to do with the aquilini news. having an owner who beats his kids is bad. having an owner who demands employees who speak out against him beating his kids be fired is another

No time for the Doerrie Coulter comparison.

Would be very surprised if she liked this tweet while remaining actively employed here.
