You really should be more careful with your analogies.

Oh c'mmon. I was debating MS on whether journalists/media personalities make stuff up. No matter how heated, I'm 100% confident MS knows I'm not comparing him to Tucker Carlson. I'm 100% confident that you're not confused about this either.

For the record, I'm not judging anyone for being a fan of Carlson either.

read the last 3 pages.... so... are people mad that posters are addressing that this hiring of a women is significant? .....because we shouldnt mention about her gender at all? Can we celebrate Willie O'Ree's legacy or are we racists because him being a black man playing hockey in the 60s is significant in itself? him being a competent enough hockey player despite overcoming his environment to play in the big leagues to be EQUALLY significant? One does not take away from the other.

Doerrie being hired is significant and should be celebrated. Lets talk about women in hockey and how far we came from mocking the Sedins as sisters publicly. ...but to call it a diversity hire is negating her credentials and taking away from her achievement. Thats not fair. Thats not true at all if you look into this hire.

Im excited that we are hiring back some of the good people we lost due to Benning's reign. from all accounts this young woman can be a bit unfiltered and brash, thats why there is corporate media training courses out there.

I think where things went sideways was when people who raised questions about Doerrie's decisions or behaviour were labelled misogynist or sexist, with the "You wouldn't even ask these questions if it were a man", which was just a double-standard because yes, if this was a man being hired then none of us would be talking about it at all.

So yes, fine to celebrate the advancement of a woman in this role, and now that people pay special attention because it is a notable hiring decision, then people will notice things we wouldn't otherwise look into for a hire of this level. That doesn't make them sexist, they're giving special attention to Doerrie's past record precisely because in celebrating her we're paying special attention to a hire of this nature.

I've never followed her on social media before, but when people celebrated her being hired I think we all rushed to look up her history out of curiosity. Along with the vast majority I'm happy with the investment in a smart analytical person, I find her commentary amusing and don't have a problem with it, but I think it's fair that others aren't comfortable with how unfiltered she is. That's a fair debate and throwing around the term "sexist" at them I just found a bit uncalled for.

Ok well I would judge someone if they were a fan of Tucker Carlson.
calling someone a fan of Carlson should be a suspendable offense. Severity akin to a in person meeting with the DoPS.

there are way too many opinionated people out there including tucker carlson and people who would judge others based on whether they like tucker carlson.

so i would judge you for judging someone for liking carlson except that would create some kind of endless do-loop.

Well given your username, I expect nothing less. :thumbu:
I quite like Tucker. But then that's just me. He responds to narratives in the MSM that get debunked.
Without shows like his you would have constant echo chambers of news outlets repeating the same dogma word for word - and he shows proof of it!
But I won't judge you for not liking him.

Weird. Boudreau was just talking about her joining the coaching staff.

Edit: She's deleted all her tweets but still has the Canucks in her bio.

Why? It’d be funny and sad if it was due to one of her old tweets from way back

Very interesting how quiet this is right after Dhaliwal drops that nugget and that Quadrelli instantly deleted. Makes me think that PR is trying to sort something out.

Most fans have only a passing interest in 'who' does 'what' in the hierarchy of Canucks management. I vaguely remember the announcement of Rachel Doerrie's hiring....something to do with analytics as I recall.

But it seems to me the Canucks have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous in their management structure. Under Benning they operated one of the most skeletal staffs in the entire NHL. They didn't even have enough scouts and guys in player development to even cover half the leagues.

Then after Rutherford's arrival they want on a hiring spree. They have so many people in player development now, it seems like they've got one employee for every player. I can't tell you 'who does 'what' any more. But there has to be overlapping responsibilities.

Whether all these extra bodies in the executive booth makes any difference to the on-ice product, I guess we're about to find out. I just hope they don't end up tripping over each other.
