Like I said earlier. These two teams deserved each other, all the goals were powerplay or weird ass goals.

Neither team played a good 60 minute game and neither could generate offense on their own.

Problem is, Carolina was down a bunch of top forwards and the Isles weren’t.

Sad.

As bad as it is, I thought they were the better team in a couple of losses. They gave it a go but just don't have the ability. Time to get younger, faster, and more talented.

Very interested to see how ownership views this season and how exit interviews go. Horvat is going to be a disaster if this continues.

I think they're going to need to change the style of play drastically for Horvat to work. This team doesn't create any open space or transition goals, which seems to be what Horvat needs.

Is he though? Two really bad goals cost them huge. This one tonight. And the one in game 2 from behind the net. Ya he played really well at times. But he had some bad moments too. That goal tonight is garbage.

We would not be here without Sorokin.... We would punching a ticket to try to get Bedard....

Now that Florida is taking Boston to a game seven I hope we don’t hear any of our fans talking about how we gave a good account of ourselves taking a depleted Carolina team to six games.

He’s the reason we even made the playoffs , yeah the goal sucked but we had no business in the playoffs without him

I agree. But he still needed to be better this series. Andersen just outplayed him tonight. There’s lots of reasons why they didn’t win the series, him included.

Aside from having his paddle down, please inform me how Sorokin’s positioning was incorrect on that play?

Since everyone is a goaltending coach

I think Goalie specialists would say his back skate should have been tucked in. I do not fault him at all.

I will be forever thankful for Lou coming to the Islanders and righting the ship with some stability and quality management. Lou and Trotz stopped the bleeding finally. However Lou at his age was always just a stop gap for that purpose, and its time for him to be sent out to pasture.
Agreed. Lou has accomplished what he needed to here which is make the team relevant going into a new building and creating a competitive and dare I say even winning culture. But the game has passed him by at this point and he’s shown no ability to adapt.

This season and playoffs had bad coaching and bad Lou Lamming written all over it.

Well…that might be about it for several older players in this group. Thought the Identity Line was great for 30 minutes. Casey takes great routes on dump-ins, huh? But you can’t play like they do for 66 minutes if the other three lines aren’t putting anything up on the damned board.

I know where we lost it. That third was excruciating to watch.

At least we don’t need to watch Canes’ Seb Aho anymore. That guy must’ve majored in drama and done time with the diving squad.

I really like Engvall. Lou’s best pickup this year. He didn’t play like this in Toronto, not that I saw.

I really dunno about Horvat. Lou’s most troubling pickup this year. He didn’t play like this in Vancouver, not that I saw.

I really thought Palmieri had a creatively rewarding series. He makes some clever moves that even occasionally pay off. Hopefully we get a healthy season from him before he ages out.

Speaking of aging out, wow, can you imagine where Parise would rank in the annals of all-time fave Isles if he’d been here for his prime? The hands aren’t what they were but he has such admirable drive. Not even troubled by his points-less series (but a timely goal tonight might’ve meant everything).

How can anyone fault Sorokin for his season in general in the face of an inconsistent playoff? But he WAS absentminded at times.

Lane? Seems like a workmanlike thinker, nothing inspired. And that’s a problem. But I’m sure he’s back next year because the group made a decent showing in the first round.

Power play is disgusting. Penalty kill practically cost us the series. I love the rugged aspect of this team’s game, but it can be neutralized by their theoretical net loss on special teams.

We made the playoffs. Four times in five years. Okay, cool. First time out in the opening round since 2015, though. Feels pretty bad, man.

It’s a game and hearty group. They work hard as balls. But they need some magic dust, someone who can spin gold from outta thin air. Lou doesn’t have anyone like that who isn’t in goalie pads, and it’s sometimes really annoying to live with.
