this losing weight thing seems strange .. ive never lost noticeable weight being sick... esp a young basically healthy kid. Maybe he lost a little muscle from laying around, that should come back fast.
I mean, I wouldn't say it's common but things like mono, a severe case of the flu, or C19 can cause 10-20 lbs of weight loss within two weeks. Mono in particular ends up hitting a lot of college-aged kids, so right around Byfield's age. I think the same thing happened to Chromiak and Clarke if I'm remembering correctly. Much of the weight ends up being water weight fluctuation, but it still takes a while to get back to feeling normal at a stable weight afterwards.

Good point re mono - that does take you out for quite awhile.. major water weight loss should not happen because if it did you would have renal and other organ failure.. at this level if anything like that was in play they would be in a hospital on an iv.

Definitely agree on Turcotte, he needs to stay healthy and play.
QB I still want up around Christmas.

Why? So TMac can play him 8 minutes a night and he can end the season with 7 goals and 11 assists in 50 games played?

I’d rather we keep young players far away from the big club at this point. TMac has no clue what he’s doing.

Yes keep him away from Koala and keep playing top line, pp1, ot1 etc in Ontario.. vs some restrained, keep pet in a cage thing at NHL level

I 100% agree with one exception

I'm absolutely f***ing sick to my stomach of AHL plugs running our kids out of the lineup

Iafallo and him looked really good I thought to start the year together. Want to see more of it.

God help me I really like the sound of Turcotte playing on Byfield's wing. It's not something I ever considered before but they could be extraordinarily complementary. If playing wing can help Turcotte lets do it. He can still do the great stuff he does without the entire line being draped over his shoulders.

It's always sounded good to me since Turcotte is Iafallo on crack, the richest man's Blake Lizotte. I don't know how many times over the years the idea of loading up a Turcotte-Byfield-Vilardi line came up. With Vilardi blowing up and Turcotte and Byfield taking steps...

This guy's timeline makes you want to be more lenient on QB Tage Thompson at eliteprospects.com

TNT potted 38 goals last year and added 30 assists... it's also what landed him that huge contract.

This kid may have taken a while to develop but he is definitely 💰💰💰.

He already has 26 points in 20 games this year and would be leading our team with 5 more points than Fiala.

(certainly makes that Ryan O'Reilly trade a tad palatable for Buffalo)

Wow, Tage really had pedestrian numbers until last year. Then a huge step up again this year. Just shows that not all top level guys will hit at age 18-21. Some need time to develop, grow into their bodies, gain confidence, etc.
When Vegas blew up in year 1 it really hit home the point that all these guys in the NHL are really good, and some of them just need better opportunity or usage to bust out. Not sure if that is what happened with Tage as I do not watch alot of Sabers games, but I wonder if opportunity led to his big spike last year.

He didnt start putting up numbers until he was 24 in his D+5 year. Being 6'7" makes him a decent analog for QB I would say. QB is in his D+2 year and is 20 years old. I would like to see him spend the entire year in the A.

NHL teams need to get the AHL board on the phone and set some parameters on running guys. Make it a no plug league since to be honest it’s an investment league for development purposes!

Start by making suspensions 4x in length. Boarding is an automatic 5 game suspension, with possibility of more. Plenty of room there to enforce safety of prospects.

I think all of the teams need to come together and realize what’s best for the league and game. Only issue I see is the AHL teams want to see fights and scrubs because that sells tickets.

If the teams are not buying in it won’t work.
