Maybe you should listen to the 10% of fans who didn't.You act as if I was the only one who wrote of Vilardi, when 90% of the fan base already did too.

I'm honestly worried. I messaged him over a week ago on here and no response. I hope he's okay.Speaking of Vilardi detractors, what happened to Herby?

Because whataboutism is such a strong argument to defend your opinion when you're wrong. 90% of the people were also wrong, so it doesn't count!
Yep there were some guys pulling out their crystal balls and speaking in such a definitive manner about Gabe that it was just crazy. Like I know the future and he is never going to be good or healthy enough to contribute. Don't you dare tell me otherwise for I am all knowing and am never wrong. And again, my point wasn't so much that "I told you so" with respect to writing off Vilardi; as @SettlementRichie10 points out that would be poor form and/or probably bad faith discussion. It was that in particular the posters being so combative here were also carrying an inflexible mindset and attitude towards Vilardi, it was a 'f*** you this guy is a bust' attitude without any acknowledgment that anything has changed or any appreciation for nuance, and it's carrying over here, when really it should be noted and appreciated that prospects develop at different rates, that injuries ARE a factor, and that 'development time' is a thing to various degrees for different prospects.
I just don't know how anyone can call Byfield a bust at 20 while watching Vilardi dominate NHL ice at 23. Sure, it's 'not typical,' but neither is their development path.
Guys busting out early doesn't mean they'll stay ahead. Anyone remember when Barret Jackman was rookie of the year, or a guy named Oscar Moller? Hell since it's the obvious comparison Sens fans have been all over Stutzle to start this year even as well...
I've eaten shit plenty of times because I don't pretend I never held those views. Hell, I eat shit constantly for being positive about the prospects, feel free to say I told you so if Byfield doesn't pan out.
high expectations for a 2nd overall pick aren't controversial.
Calling them busts and Boyle in the middle of development is silly, don't pretend that's 'nuanced discussion'--I'll call that out when I see it, thank you very much.
And the point was WRT to vilardi and the initial post--said poster literally two months ago was calling Vilardi a write-off bust and suggesting guys are what they are at 20...the point was have we learned nothing about patience especially in response to injuries?
Edit: and actually no I'd have to check my post history but I'm pretty positive I've been on the Vilardi needs more love train this entire time. I think even during the offseason I said it's gonna be funny when he's scoring 60 points for another team this year...And I definitely fought all summer with more than a handful of posters who said he was a bust and waiver fodder, so...barking up the wrong tree here.
What is your most homer and least homer opinion?
I saw this as a thread on the hockey subreddit and it generated some good responses. I’ll start (Buffalo) Most Homer: Rasmus Dahlin already broke out in the second half of last year, and will be a consensus top 5 defenseman by the end of the year. Least Homer: Not utilizing our cap space...forums.hfboards.com
Haha yep, this was from August.
Considering the cheap shots taken just this week against the Kings, there isn't anywhere to hide our prospects. They need to protect themselves either in the AHL or the the NHL.So first game back from illness in the AHL and surprise surprise a major penalty was committed against him. It's part of why I have mixed feelings about marinating kids in the AHL. How many of our players have gotten injured due to cheap shots while playing for the Reign as opposed to playing in the NHL? That team has fighters too but it's no deterrent.

That’s because the whole thing about fighting being a deterrent is the biggest myth in the game. That team has fighters too but it's no deterrent.
As he apparently lost weight due to illness I’d guess 2-3 weeks minimum. It depends if he lost muscle weight or fat, I presume but I’m just guessing.so whens get going to get called back up?
Kiffin McGinnis said:Obviously, it’s only conditioning, but wow, did Byfield look like a man among boys in the AHL.
Turcotte digging out pucks and setting up Byfield for a goal showing patience and hands. You love to see it.
Let them develop chemistry playing 1st line minutes as long as they need. We’ll see our future Turcotte - Byfield - Kaliyev line someday soon hopefully.
this losing weight thing seems strange .. ive never lost noticeable weight being sick... esp a young basically healthy kid. Maybe he lost a little muscle from laying around, that should come back fast.As he apparently lost weight due to illness I’d guess 2-3 weeks minimum. Agreed. They've both lacked a consistent place to develop over the past two years for varying (but different) reasons. This opportunity should be good for them.At this point, I’d rather they both stay down in Ontario for the foreseeable future where they can actually get ice time and PP deployment.
