this is stupid honestly...team struggling but let's trade our best D and top young player. just a dumb panic move that solves nothing at all. If Hughes is traded, Pettersson and Demko will be traded too amd they will just start from scratch.
Hughes - dynamic offensive d-man, stellar PP QB, turned 23 8 days ago
Pettersson - legit top-line center, will be 24 next month
Demko - big, talented goalie, 27 in Dec

Even if the Canucks decide to "blow it up", which would be, as you say, an idiotic overreaction to an early season slump, these are established veteran stars who are still young enough to *build around*. They're not players to be scrapped.

Both.

The value is there because its 2 good players but to me Dahlin is a player I would never trade.

By the end of this season, Dahlin will be in the discussion with Fox and Makar. You NEVER trade these types of players unless you are forced to.
Indeed, but in the fantasy-land of the HF Trade Board, all things are possible.

I don’t think Devils have the assets to trade for Hughes( unless Jack Hughes is involved)

Would be cool to have all the brothers together though

He took his goal+apple+points and even called him a bitch for his dive and let him taste his gloves before he turtled on his way to peach ark like boss what undressing.
You mean where Dahlin had to stick his skates after he lost his jock strap?

And you'd be wrong. Quinn Hughes would draw a mint if the Canucks for some reason stupidly wanted to trade him. But they do not, so I don't know what we're doing here. This is also just about the laziest setup for a discussion I've ever seen.

"If this team that has no reason to deal their bonafide 1D deals their 1D, what would be the return?" Normally, you want to start off the discussion, because this just seems like it will quickly drift to "YOU DON'T LIKE HUGHES AS MUCH AS I DO AND YOU'RE OFFERING GARBAGE?!" or "I wouldn't trade Quinn Hughes for Connor McDavid."
Poster above you noted, "Like creating a thread about how much Makar will return or McDavid." Seems a bit excessive. I see why you wouldn't be interested in trading him though.

No need to trade him, VAN needs a strong defensive partner that meshes well with Hughes and allows him to be his best version.

How do they Devils not have the assets? They have one of the best prospect pools out there - they could easily offer up a great deal without Jack, even though they shouldn't.

I love when Hughes is on the ice because the goals against are coming. Vancouver should be looking to find a solid defensive D like Tanev before even considering trading Hughes.

Of course they have assets. I’m referring to current GM

This ^^^^
That’s not what I meant. I’m aware Devils have higher value assets than the Canucks.

I just worded it really bad and didn’t express my full point.

Forget it now, I apologize

Bottom line, the cost to acquire Hughes is a Potential #1 D Prospect, 1st, Current top 4 guy under 30. You don't get a Dman ranked in the top 10 for anything less.

no interest from the Devils.

Next year.
Hamilton $9
Marino $4.4
Siegs 3.4
Bahl $2+
Hughes
Nemec
Smith-should be gone.

how does another $7.85 fit in and relegate one of Bahl, NEmec or his own brother to the bench or minors.
Bahl is proving that he is at least a valuable bottom pairing defenseman and is only to get better and for the most part is never going to be more than a bottom pairing D in NJ, due to where he is on the depth chart and still has the potential to be a top 4 D onthe bottom pairing.
Lets look at 25-26. Hamilton is a top pairing D. Siegs is arguably a top pairing D. Hughes and Nemec shoudl be top pairing D. MArino is a top four.
BAhl, Muhk and maybe even Okhotiuk all have top four potential. Not to mention numerous other prospects that are stil pretty decent and unknown including Seamus Casey, Walsh etc

I wouldn't trade one of Siegs or MArino for Hughes straight up. They are needed more than Hughes and contracts are easier to work with.

We need to stop with the Quinn to NJ because his brothers are there. NJ is the last team that needs Quinn Hughes.

Some people just never learn. You’d think after what some of these Vancouver fans were asking for Miller over the summer, only to get no serious offers and being forced to re-sign him, would be a wake up call.

You are forgetting what Quinn can bring to the table with his offensive talents. NJ's power play still sucks despite Dougie Hamilton arriving. If there's an opportunity to upgrade Graves at a cost of one our top prospects or 1st round pick, they would be mad to not consider it.

The cap can be managed with Graves and Tatar going the other way. Vancouver will accept them as their are expiring. Holtz or Zetterlund can be inserted for Tatar. And I think the team gets probably stronger if Tatar is out of the lineup.

Severson and Johnsson gone next year still means we have cap to re-sign Bratt.

Van is a worse team for sure. Dahlin isn't exactly a stud defensively but is better than Hughes easily. However offensively where both shine there isn't much of a difference.

So is the upgrade from Hughes defensive game to Dahlin's justify the cost of Pettersson? I don't think it comes close.. Van passes
Hughes was considered superior to Dahlin just couple of years ago. Dahlin got hot in 5 games and you guys are putting him on par with Makar? This board is a joke when it comes to players going on a hot streak. I bet by the end of the season Dahlin will be forgotten. Also I take Hughes when it comes to offense, he drives the Canucks offense and you can see the difference when he is absent. He is a much better passer than Dahlin and has way better edge work and offensive drive. Dahlin just has the better shot. So the difference being pettersson is completely stupid because Dahlin is not even remotely close to Makar and I still would have a hard time of trading Pettersson and Hughes for Makar. We are giving quality and quantity which is super dumb for a team lacking talent. Other fans like Sabres fans should stop overvaluing their players. I would not trade Hughes or pettersson for Dahlin one on one, wouldnt do it 2 years ago and still would not do it. So stop with these dumb trade proposals since its not realistic.

To Vancouver: Dahlin and Powers
To Buffalo: Hughes

That shows you have zero idea of what players values are in NHL. Hughes and Pettersson are two young, high potential players. Only a dimwit would trade him for less than McDavid, meaning untouchable. Get with reality, you seem to be dreaming like the OP. JR is not that dumb to trade two franchise faces for a chicken nugget

Not to mention Hughes is signed for another 5 years and Pettersson another year after this, still an RFA when his deal expires.

So you think Miller is same as Hughes and Pettersson? we should give those two to you guys for free since Miller didnt get anything of value? How are they connected, I dont get it? So if Oilers cant get any good trade offer for Nurse, it means they would not get anything of value for McDavid? Typical hfboard logic

I respect your different opinion but you wouldn't trade Hughes and Pettersson for Makar? He's signed to a great deal, just won the Conn Smythe and is non debatably a top 5 dman in the league and probably the best. It would be like the Leafs turning down Nylander + Rielly for Makar. I know the trade hurts but end of the day you get the best player
