Quinn Hughes reminds me of Scott Niedermayer but a bet more elusive in skating.
Both very talented, but just let the silly rivalry die. Makar has already proven himself and taken all the hardware firstMakar had a 3 point night as well
Why do you have to drag us into this again
I have absolutely zero control over the squabbling that typically occurs in discussions regarding these playersBoth very talented, but just let the silly rivalry die. Makar has already proven himself and taken all the hardware first
Makar came into the league at a perfect time and peaked early. He's been declining for two years in a row.Crosby/Ovechkin of defenceman. Two generational dman who will battle it out for a long time.
That wasn’t a direct comment at you, but a general comment.I have absolutely zero control over the squabbling that typically occurs in discussions regarding these players
I know lol but I still felt obligated to defend myself xDThat was a direct comment at you, but a general comment.
The Canucks fans are going to think you're being serious lolMakar came into the league at a perfect time and peaked early. He's been declining for two years in a row.
Hughes entered the league young and was in a terrible team and trended upwards.
For the next decade Hughes will leave Makar in the dust.
have at thee you mangy meowthI know lol but I still felt obligated to defend myself xD
Good comparisonQuinn Hughes reminds me of Scott Niedermayer but a bet more elusive in skating.
give it a month or twoCan't believe the 2024 Stanley Cup champs Vancouver Canucks haven't won the 2025 Stanley Cup yet.
The Norris is all about media attention, and right now, attention is squarely focused on Hughes who has so much going for him.The Makar bias is strong with voters. Hughes will have to be head and shoulders better than Makar by season's end just to have a chance.
If Canucks make the playoffs and high in standings, Hughes will not only win the Norris but probably the Hart too. Just because he is the captain and leading scorer and a dman that logs 30 minutes. Those are huge xfactorsThe Makar bias is strong with voters. Hughes will have to be head and shoulders better than Makar by season's end just to have a chance.
Not only that but he leads our team in both mentality and scoring. While Makar gets his points quietly, Hughes has bigger role on our team. He is the captain. The Norris is all about media attention, and right now, attention is squarely focused on Hughes who has so much going for him.
Newly minted captain.
The Canucks are doing unexpectedly well and are leading the conference.
Clear cut leader in defenseman scoring.
All-star quality play both offensively and defensively.
Scoring race against his brother is also going to be on a lot of people's radar once Jack comes back.
Interesting... So if I understand you correctly what your saying is he's basically the second coming of Bobby Orrpace for 133 points
also pace for +100
Quinn has moved a tier above Makar, offensively and defensively. Can he sustain his current level of play? That is the Great Unanswered Question. I'm convinced he can, but my conviction ain't worth a hill of shit. It's a useless opinion about sports. It is a valid area of debate, though, and Avs fans will definitely have a point should they bring it up. Makar at this point has brought home the hardware, but past hardware doesn't equal current skill. It's an accolade, and past accolades don't mean shit in relation to current play. Only time will tell just how good Hughes may become. Right now, it's pretty f***ing good.Damn I guess I was wrong
take away the basically or elseInteresting... So if I understand you correctly what your saying is he's basically the second coming of Bobby Orr
35% of Makar's points this season came in just 2 games (6 points) when Colorado ran the score up on a couple shitty teams.35% of Hughes' points this season came in just 2 games (9 points) when Vancouver ran the score up on a couple shitty teams.
Makar and Fox are better defensemen, and that hasn't changed.
