I mean they were both finalist against a guy that topped 100pts. Hughes wins it if they play Oilers every night :sarcasm: Damn I didn't watch that game wth happened to the Oilers?

Yeah, but it's still ridiculous to say that no one else can win when we just saw that it's very possible. And like I've said before, Hughes right now is a lot closer to a Norris today than EK was a year ago. Is it likely? No. Is it possible? Absolutely.

I don't have the hate boner for him that some others do, so I hope he does well.

I also hope Miro eventually gets a good d-partner after starting his career off so far with the dynamos of Polak, Oleksiak, and Suter.

We can give you one Tyler Myers, he’s from Texas and he’s very tall.

I would never bet against anyone with the game sense and skating of Quinn Hughes, it's a fantastic combination to have. It would probably take a 85-90+ point season for it to happen, but again with this player I don't think that is impossible.
He had 76 last year and he definitely looks on another level this season, I think he can definitely hit 90 give the improved forward and defensive depth.

I think his reputation will continue to hurt him, and while he’s very good, I don’t think he’s quite as good as some of the usual names (Makar, Fox, Dahlin), so he’ll have to play above his head a bit and/or the others not have the best years/get injured and stand out from the pack in order to win, as I don’t think he’d get the benefit of the doubt on a close vote. Also, I doubt he ends up playing too much with Hronek. The team really needs to spread out the defensive talent as much as possible. And if he plays significant time with the likes of Juulsen and McWard, it just makes it that much more difficult to win when others have partners like Toews and Samuelsson .
People keep bringing up Dahlin. Dahlin is the most overrated player on these boards I swear. He hasn't done much yet he is better than Hughes which is ridiculous. I take Hughes over Dahlin any day not because am biased but because I know Hughes is superior to Dahlin in some vital aspects which is passing and his skating and edge work eluding checkers. Dahlin is not as dynamic as Hughes.

There's no softer subsection of fans on HF than huggy bear fans. "We just want to talk about Hughes winning the Norris without anyone mentioning other players"
Nah it's not like that. If Canucks fans mention Hughes taking a huge dump on HFboard you will find Avs fans and spinoramma responding in milliseconds that Makar can take a bigger dump.. I guess they just have a Hughes fetish 😂

I mean, replace the team names, player names, and poster names in this post with a wide variety of different combinations and it still fits. It's what we do on here

He looks primed to take another step forward and have a monster year.

Likely finishes top 5, with a chance as a top 3.

The Canucks will need to make the playoffs for him to get Norris consideration otherwise will need a monster offensive total like Karlsson.

It's Makar and Fox as the definitive 1, 2, with the remainder filled out by perennial stalwarts like Hedman, Josi and Karlsson and top youngsters like Heiskanen, Dahlin, McAvoy, Hughes et al.

Watch for more like Powers, Sanderson etc to join the fold soon.

Lots of great dmen.

I find it interesting that you're sort of absolving Canucks fans from being involved entirely

I've been around here for the whole thing and let me tell you, it's been a two-way street. To say that it's been lopsided one way or another in terms of pettiness is simply inaccurate.

Well Canucks fans don't have a Makar fetish and acknowledge him being superior to Hughes. So it's not really the same is it??

But they were under- sized assists…
They were not as beautiful as Makar assists :naughty:

I mean you literally did it in three lines down in this same exact post lol. How is this any different just because Makar is the objectively better player?

It's just petty squabbling on both sides.
