No blame should be put on Marner, even if it was a stupid penalty. Marner was great in this game.

Lowry created a "me" attitude in a "we" tournament.

Double shifted favorites.
Had guys playing 2-3 minute shifts.
Did not reward players playing well.
Never benched guys who were un-disciplined.
Never benched guys playing bad.

When Canada rolled 4 lines and 3 pairings, we looked fast and good. As soon as he double shifted his favorites or let them gave 2 minute shifts, they looked awful. And today, his favorites looked good at times, and lost us the game at other times.

Agree 100%.

Love the Virtanen hate !! It fuels a kid like this.

He will be even more hated in the NHL when he is actually allowed to mack truck some of these midget prospects.
Certainly fueled him to have the worst tournament in WJC history

Bodes well for the Canucks IMO

Why is Brayden Point lackluster performance through the tournament not getting attention?

As the Captain and returnee I for one expected a LOT more.

Konecny, Strome, Marner were our best forwards, really let down by all the forward returnees.

As much as they tried to play it off it was clear Point was injured.

That's why he would get a bit of a pass from me not sure about other people though.

Edit:

As for returnees I thought Crouse was really good all tournment long. He may not have had the highs of Marner and Strome but I think he was our most consistent forward all tournament long.

Hicketts sure knows how to conduct himself in an interview
I didn't see the interview but Hicketts is a dope

Causes a 5 on 3 and he's laughing on his way to the penalty box and in the penalty box

Showed how much he cared

Very exciting game, but not a very good game. Too many goals scored in both ends because of defensive mistakes and bad goaltending instead of creative offensive play.

Just my opinion, of course - many will disagree.

I agree. As another post stated, great excitement and entertainment, but not great hockey, not a game that would be ranked with WJC games where the fundamentals are really good through the game. Let's face it, goaltending today put its mark on the outcome in a not so good way, by both teams so it kind of evened up.

Of course I am.

It seems the only responses are the reffing is always bad so Canada should adapt or personal attacks, so if that is the best people have there is really no reason to change my thinking.

The IIHF has repeatedly shown us they are a biased and corrupt organization with incompetent referees.

Canada brings in the majority of the money and has by far the best players so why to we put up with a group that continually tries to screw us?

How about you just congratulate Finland. It'll make you feel a lot better. Trust me.

If we're playing that game, so was Virtanen. Neither should have been there if they were hurt to a point where htey couldn't play well.

Agreed. Ideally you don't want him to react that way, but it was an off-setting penalty. Canada shouldn't have been in that position to begin with

Blame is on Virtanen, not sure what he was thinking

Finland's trio of Laine, Puljujarvi, Juolevi were outstanding. Just didn't see any Canadian equivalents.

Strome and Marner, but the third one is missing (as an Aho). Though I have to say this game could have EASILY ended up in a Canada win. At a couple of different points in the game I kinda expected that.

I guess that's what makes the kid line so special, Finland has had one line teams before but never had three players making up the line. Even Teravainen who had the tournament top goal scorer on his wing was basically alone with his talent level.

That Laine-Aho-Puljujärvi line is one of the most impressive things I've seen in this tournament in the 15 years I've been watching

I didnt mind Strome interview..Thought it was fine, he looked dissapointed, answered tough question.

Why should we adapt and not just start our own tournament with legit reffing?

I never understand this thinking from international apologists like Ferraro.

If the ref is crap then it should be changed especially when the IIHF would be nothing without Canada and we would be just fine if we started a new, non-corrupt organization.

Today the Perlini, 3 Virtanen calls and the Marner calls were all horsecrap calls. The Hicketts call was a joke because there is no way they should be playing in a joke of rink with that glass but not the refs fault.

The Finns won pretty much 100% to PP goals scored on those calls. The Finns didn't make good plays, didn't force Canada into mistakes didn't play better in any way.

Those calls changed the game and the outcome of the game and saying "they should adapt to the crappy, biased reffing" seems moronic to me. There shouldn't be crappy and biased reffing to start with if this is supposed to be a world Class organization.
LOL... Aren't you slightly embarrassed?

Two teams came on the ice. Two teams played bad hockey. Two teams scored a lot of goals. One came out as the winner. Great game though!
