Last period looked more like "Who can sell most penalties to the stupid reffs" Marner get 3 punches in the face and give one back. Finn looked like his head was torn of his neck. /from a neutral fan.

This is what bugs me. That was definitely a blown call right there, and not Marner's fault at all. That being said, while IIHF rules are ridiculous, they're applied equally ridiculously to all teams. In the end, Canada was the reason that Canada lost today. And Lowry is a joke (I know that's stating the obvious, but it cannot be said too many times).

Congratulate them for what having the refs hand the the game? For the second time this tournament?

No thanks, the Finns did nothing today to deserve any congratulations.

Unreal.

Do you think Canada deserved to win? Finland deserved it much more than we did. Learn how to lose..

Typical hockey fan, if it doesn't go your way, blame the refs.

Was jv as bad as people are saying. I slept, missed 95% of the game.

Thx

Played well in the first period. Took a stupid penalty that negated what would have been a 5-3 for Canada when they were up 3-2, then took 2 penalties on the same shift on a powerplay when the game was tied at 5.

Funny thing is that the Finnish commentators were saying that it was a clean hit.

Actually they ended up saying that it was a fine call. The clean hit stuff was just their immediate reaction in the heat of the game.

So sick of watching Canada try and play Euro style hockey.

Miss the days where we were big, fast, physical, dirty teams that just intimidated and steam rolled their way to Gold after Gold. It worked for us for a lot of years and that's our brand of hockey. I could accept going out in the quarters if we were playing our game.

Why is Brayden Point lackluster performance through the tournament not getting attention?

As the Captain and returnee I for one expected a LOT more.

Konecny, Strome, Marner were our best forwards, really let down by all the forward returnees.

Completely disagree on Marner. Had a good final game but was totally absent or mostly a negative before that. Constantly tried to do it all himself and often lost the zone and/or momentum because of it. Certainly not the only player to do this - seems to have been encouraged by Lowry - but worst offender to my eyes.

Hey Moon:

How did you feel about the weak 5 minute major on Debrincat in the opening USA/Canada game? Rules are rules, right?

He also pretty much created the play that led to Crouse's goal to put the team up 3-2.

He had a bad third but otherwise did alright.

man i really like pulju. I hope Ottawa drafts him (probably won't but its nice to dream).

Kid is a stud. I'd be thrilled to have Puljujarvi or Laine. They would be a good fit with McDavid in the future :yo:

Really impressed with the Finns offence, especially the two big wingers in the upcoming draft. One day I'll remember how to spell their names.

Some of these kids are 17. I feel for them, they must feel just awful.

No, that was completely legitimate! In fact, if they had called it a minor instead, I would support Hockey Canada shunning IIHF and conducting their own tournament.

Well lots of people disagree with you, so I guess everyone is just entitled to their own opinion. I thought Marner was inconsistent but created many chances and didn't cause more giveaway's than most others. He wasn't great at times, like a lot of this team, but other times he was the best player. He's getting way too much emphasis for supposedly being a negative impact on this team. He wasn't totally absent or mostly negative before today in my view.
