Virtannen deserves the criticism, marner was playing great in the third and got a lot mote than he gave. Perhaps he should have embellished as well, amirite?

They are young kids, and played what amounted to a great game to watch. Blackwood letting in one softie and one he should never get passed him didnt help much either.

That's pretty much it. Thought Blackwood off the post on that one goal was a bit soft too.
Canada was not good enough this year, but it would be crazy to say this was not a great game that they could have won, too. Definitely a great game to watch.

Your hate for Chabot is ridiculous. He was from from the worst. Blackwood deserves to be on that list more.

Chabot was our best d-man during the tournament, honestly.

I mean, this falls mostly on Lowry. Spineless, zero accountability. Blackwood allows 3 goals and clearly looks more than rattled? No, don't pull him, leave him in for another 3. Virtanen takes a bunch of dumbass penalties in the previous game and another dumb one in the first two periods? Give him more TOI to ****ing take another dumbass penalty which ultimately yields the GWG.

It's mindboggling. Never seen an entire team Canada team as disorganized as this team was this year. That's on the coach.

IMO the Marner penalty was the TSN turning point of the game w. 3 minutes left. Killed a PP chance and took our offensive player off the ice.

Naw turning point was all Virtanen (should of gone on a 5 on 3)

Or Finish goalie getting pulled and Canadas not.

He should be back in Minor Hockey.

LMFAO loves this.

Marner is a beauty, Strome is a beauty, Konecny and Barzal. Dermott was solid.

Honestly, if you said the name of 5 guys on the team I would never think they were on the team, guys like Gauthier.

How many times to we have to be screwed by horse crap officiating at a IIHF event before Canada just says ef them and leaves?

What is the IIHF going to do hold their tournaments in front of 200 people with $500 worth of sponsorship money.

Finland did nothing to win this game but wait on the BS officiating they have relied on all tournament long and of course the crappy IIHF refs obliged.

This Canadian team had issues for sure but the garbage calls were the reason they lost today not their play and certainly not the play of a awful Finnish team.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

... Virtanen's two penalties were the turning point. 4 minutes on the PP, gave Finland the lead, and killed all the momentum Canada had

I'd vote the Hicketts minor. Canada was down to a minute left in the penalties. Just a terrible rule (as has been discussed forever), especially with low glass. Rough break, but Finland was better team for sure.

Whatever happens on the ice, the opponent can never win. They are just there when Canada loses.
I understand your sentiment and congratulate you for winning but with all due respect, I do think Canada beat themselves today. Sweden beat us outright, the USA beat us outright, but today we beat ourselves.

B.S. We would have had a power play if not for his stupid selfish penalty. There was no need for Marner to throw that punch, it was exactly what the Finnish player wanted and in international hockey they're going to call that penalty against Canada every time.

Whatever, the finn did the exact same thing twice to Marner. You want to know why it was called on Marner? Because the Finn player embellished like crazy grabbing at his throat and staggering around.

If it wasn't for Marner, we would have lost by 3+ goals.

It's insane that Konecny played so little when he scored first, had huge hits, and played amazing all over the ice.

Then as soon as Sanheim gets on the PP they score on two in a row.

The coach sunk this team.

Virtanen is an idiot. Blackwood was awful. Hicketts is severely overused and overrated, Hickey and Fleury struggled. Lots of Canadian players playing stupid and undisciplined. Point, Perlini, etc added zero offense, meanwhile Barzal, Konecny, etc sit.

Pretty insane.

McDonald showed nothing to suggest he'd be any better. With regards to Virtanen I agree but you almost have to wonder if the Canucks had some sort of agreement with Hockey Canada regarding his ice time.

He couldn't be any worse. And if nothing else, it lights a fire under the team to pick it up a bit. Doing nothing and sticking with a goalie who was clearly struggling was the worst option to pick, and that's the one Lowry went with.

Make no mistake, there were individual players on Canada who sucked big time. But ultimately the guy behind the bench is the one who chose who played and who didn't, and never adjusted when players were slumping.

Pretty much.

When the players take this many needless penalties every single game, it falls on the coach.

Dave Lowry, Steve Spott...who will be the next coach?

Who was invisible when games mattered most?

Sure they are young but nerves don't mean you should be stupid like that.

What seems to be getting overlooked is I'm not saying his goals weren't important, great or anything like that...but that he took the most unnecessary penalty in this game and it came at a moment where you get a PP to tie it up with a couple minutes left. Not only do you negate the PP but you take your hottest offensive player off the ice for 2 minutes.

It was stupid.

Like I said, if we rely on the PP that much this game, we probably didn't deserve to win anyways. I am disappointed right now, but indifferent at the same time because this team was just awful from top to bottom including one of the worst coaching staff in years for Hockey Canada. No one again really showed up, and we were relying too much on top 6 production when we should have had production from all 4 lines. Teams with no depth scoring are never successful. The defense looked awful this game aswell. I dont even want to get started there because thats a whole other rant.

Well canadiens, if you look at the bright side, you lost the game because of stupid penalties, not because of lack in talent. Hopefully your players will not make the same misstakes when the stakes are higher (olympics etc).

In my book its alot worse to lose when playing your absolute A game but it still aint cutting it.
