Well, that's not fair. Let's be honest. Knowing how tight Canada-Russia games are, it will be a huge advantage for Canadians. Every little detail matters in these kind of games...

We hear this every single year for every single tournament.

We get it already.

This tournament is huge in Russia.

On TSN they said 36 million Russians watched the Gold medal against Canada last year at the WJC, it was the most watched sporting event in Russia in 2020. The number is probably even higher with people who watch it via streams as well.

To say this only matters to Canadians is completely false.
I do not know what is your source. I use Mediascope. It says the audience of the WJC Final was 4.1 million (age group 4+) on main Russian commercial channel (Channel One) while the UEFA CL Final 2020 had an audience 1.2 million on MatchTV (a sports channel, of course with fewer following than Channel One). This season, the UEFA CL regular season has around 1.2 million. So, yeah, the WJC is popular there.

Russia will have to grind it out hard to win a bronze at this tournament. But you take what you can get.

I gotta get off my chest something I wanted to for a week or so: I don't get why people say Askarov is the best goalie prospect since Price. To me it was Vasilevski. One could argue Vasi was the best junior goalie since Tretiak. Askarov is so flawed technically, it's mind boggling. If not for his athleticism, he shouldn't have been taken in the 1st round last year.
