Except it appears that Hughes is unwilling to do that, so it's just not a scenario in reality.

I would love to it happen though.
Hoffman is too valuable to do that
He gets awful lot of ice time- not sure why

Anyone who watched any of the Vegas games knows. Frankly I was blown away by Eichels commitment to both ends of the rink. He was a beast and by far the most dangerous player on that team most nights.

Are you suggesting we get Yamamoto to play with Suzuki. :sarcasm:
Hopefully not

I think we can wait it out a year for Hoff and Armia buy out next season.

If we want to play youngsters, then just send those two in the press box, they don’t really hold any value anyway.

Gally’s another story though, we’ll have to keep him. Impossible to buy out…
How much more is on their contracts??

Yamamoto bought out. He's young 20 goals. Recent first pick.
He doesn't do much of anything gos missing for long stretches - too small too weak

Strange no one wanted to trade for him at 50% retained.

Hall went for nothing.
Kevin Hayes and Ryan Johansen went for nothing with 50% retained.
Duchene, Yamamoto, Blake Wheeler, and OEL couldn't even be traded with 50% retained and had to be bought out.

I get the feeling Armia, Hoffman, and even Dvo and Eddie are in the 3rd category right now.
There is no real benefit to buying anyone out unless you need cap space (we don't) or you need a 50 man contract slot ( we shouldn't). we are at 37 contracts - maybe 7 guys get qualifying offers that takes you to 44. should not be an issue.

Armia is worthless- if you want to play a kid instead park him in Laval.

Hoffman- I doubt anybody wants him now- maybe closer to October retained when some gets a bunch of injuries in camp and sees him as a cheap (retained) stop gap. Barring that you play him in a top 9 role and hope for anything you can get a deadline.

Eddy - pretty much see Hoffman - if you use him you may get something for him retained. A LD like Xhekaj may have to start year in Laval. Waive wideman if you have to but likely to be a d-man or two on IR when camp ends.

RHP earned a shot at a roster spot last year. Only way he starts in Laval is if he haves a real bad camp. Ylonen will not clear waivers so you keep him. waive a Pitlick if you have too even Pezz. Ylonen may be something (Pitlick and Pezz are journymen at best).

How I see it. But MSL and Hughes seem unwilling to put Armia and Hoffman in Laval or the stands for long stretches.

I've been wondering how much of that has to do with Hughes background as an agent.

He's been willing to trade some players but hasn't shown willingness to bury or buyout the anchors as of yet.

Still only his second off-season, but you gotta make the cold-hearted moves sometimes.

What do you guys think of Anthony Richard?
Elite AHLer.

May be able to stick with an NHL team that has a specific need for a guy that can potentially score 15-20, but isn't good defensively, is undersized and not strong, but is really fast.

I'd love to see Willy and Matthews walk into UFA like...

Give me Stone, Karlsson, Eichel, Marchessault, and have our team outscore every other team, and I won't complain about a lack of superstar. But we don't have a single PPG player, they have multiple PPG-style players.

We tried winning by defense + scoring-by-committee and we had the best active goalie and it didn't work. Maybe you forgot?
We sure came close though, didn’t we?

unfortunately for us, their superstar goalie was better than our superstar goalie in that series. The back breaker was game 2. We badly outshot them but their goalie stopped practically everything. And of course they score a goal with one second left in period 2…..that was the killer. I won’t even mention game 5’s 1-0 loss. We didn’t lose because of Kucherov or any of their super star scorers….we lost because of that monster Russian in their nets.

Hoffman cannot be on this team next year. The definition of a waste of roster space that a younger player should be in.
At this rate Hoffman, armia, Dvorak etc will all be here with the team. Literally a disaster, but I don’t see any of those guys getting moved and thus I don’t see us doing anything at all with free agents.

I remember that I thought Libor was gonna be a good pick during his draft year...
(Then when Habs didn't pick him I sent a bunch of death threats to mgmt and other players we picked instead because that's totally normal behaviour)

He was taken 37th OA in 2016. You see? That pick amounts to nothing. So Habs were right to move it.
