GDT: QF: Sweden vs Finland

If the Finnish fans are depressed now, the Swedes will certainly entertain them in the next two matches. Actually, I'm not even that happy about it, when I know that in the semi-finals there will probably be a Sweden-Czechia match and then probably a Sweden-USA match. It can be ugly..

I would've felt the same way if we won, but i'm always hoping for an upset in Canadian soil. So fingers crossed either for Sweden or Czechia.

Leo Carlsson stepped up today, now the rest have to follow if we are going to have any chance. Rosén is playing in the AHL, he should dominate at this level. Totally invisible against the big teams.

If seeds go accurately.. Swedes get a very favorable Czech team in Semi's.. path to gold isn't so bad.

Yeah I was prepared us to be 4th even if we manage to win this game so I don't feel too unhappy about us going home right now. Ofc its sad we lost but based on how we performed its almost a relief. Maybe silver will be possible for Sweden now, even gold on a really good day. US and Canada are too damn strong hockey teams in this tournament, even Czechs have the potential to surprise any team.

Happy this tournie is finally back in Europe (Sweden)next year. Looking forward to it!

Well, I do like out chances better against the Czechs then US or Canada. But I've been impressed by Czechia and I thought they were the better team in round Robin game.

So far a lot of players in Sweden is not playing up to their potential and that needs to change if we want to medal. Can't count on Lindbom bailing us out in every game

Proud of our guys showing some heart and fight... finally. "Genious" coaching or Sverige-effect, who knows?

Sweden got to learn to start full speed way before the third period. They learnd nothing from the Canada game.

Actually you can! Hot goalies can do a lot.. he's been awesome. And if your boys peak at the right time, watch out!

I'd like your chances if I were you.

Worst thing for you would be a Slovak or German upset as Czechs would get them and you'd get a Canada or US. Cheer for the seeds.lol

Why not? If the goalie is good he is good. I will enjoy the final vs Canada. They will be gassed out playing USA. If we play USA in the final it’s an easy win. But I don’t think we will get that lucky.

We were the better team vs czhechs. They needed some crazy help from referees. Should have been 3-1 in 2nd period but like today we hit the post etc.
 
Well bad misstake by Heimosalmi. I feel like if we'd Lindbom in goal he would have caught one of the two late goals. He won the game for Sweden.

To be honest, we've been the worse team for three games in a row (Czechia, Canada and Finland), despite winning two of them. Our chances to win gold are virtually none, while Czechia has a good chance to upset Canada or the US in a final.

Umm... Several people said after the USA game they were pessimistic about Finland's chances.

Though I dismissed that as usual Finnish "optimism".

Surprised at the score. Thought Lambert would have more of an impact.

Pedigree counts... IF it is Swedes vs Czechs.. they have a 20 year winning record against us with mostly slaughters. That was our first point (1) against them in 20 years and they still beat us.lol
 
I love how people are massively downplaying how good the Czech are this year. I will put lots of money on them wiping the floor with Sweden
