I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to the start of last season and post, "We'll be trading Spooner for Strome so he can center Kakko next year."
Coach Quinn trolled Fast on the 1st line and 1st PP unit - I don`t get it in the last pre season game. He will troll us the whole season when our top lines start to struggle to be productive - Jesper Fast, oh yeah save us baby.
Although I was a little more impressed with the defensive zone coverage tonight, DQ is not an NHL coach IMO
I think howden is less likely to go down than chytil not because he is quinn's pet like some think but because long term he is a bottom 6 center. so if he starts as the 4C as long as he gets 10+ minutes a night thats fine. chytil's upside is still top 6 so is he really going to get there playing in the bottom 6 vs top line minutes in hartford?
How is Hajek making this team over Lindgren? The go ahead goal was was a blind pass behind the net to nobody. He didn’t even look up to see if anyone was there. To me Lindgren stood out this whole pre-season.

This year is so important for Chytil and Andersson in seeing what kind of contributors they will be at the NHL level.
I'm way more satisfied with seeing Andersson's play thus far over Chytil. Andersson looks reinvigorated and is playing like he has something to prove (spoiler: he does)
Chytil's looked very lackadaisical. Is he injured? I'm going to be very disappointed if he's not, honestly. He's looked like flaming garbage this preseason, if I'm honest. Andersson is the only one out of the three young centers that deserves an NHL spot based on preseason. Howden, Chytil, and Kravtsov should all be in the AHL to start the year, but I don't think Quinn has the stones to send all three down. My projected lineup is merely what I think it will be. If we're going off of my evaluations, I'd go with:
Panarin-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Kreider-Strome (no other better option, sadly)-Kakko
Lemieux-Andersson-Fast
Namestnikov-Nieves-McKegg
Haley (he's earned it, IMO. Someone will need to protect the kids against the shitbag cheap shot artist teams)
Skjei-Fox (f*** it, throw him into the fire. He's looked like the best overall defenseman this preseason)
Hajek-Trouba
Staal-DeAngelo
Lindgren
Lundqvist
Georgiev
Kravtsov, Chytil, Howden, Shesterkin start in Hartford as previously mentioned
Smith and Staal are shot into space in the next Space-X rocket to Mars.

Yeah that’s what I’m kind of thinking. If we’re looking at them like wingers then Kravtsov is better than Chytil. If we want Chytil to be a center than it may be best for him to be 1C in Hartford.
Idk though, he is an NHL player though so I would understand them not doing that. I’m just overall very disappointed with Chytil and Howden overall in camp. I was hoping to see more. At least Lias has shown growth big time so that helps off set that disappointment.

If we send a bunch of these guys down, is Hartford still gonna somehow, magically suck again? I know we signed Harry Zolnierczyk (sp?) for the Holland role and he's AWOL/retiring or whatever

And he went to the AHL where the game is slower and was really good. And it was a big thing for him for most of last year, but by the end of the season he was playing really well and got injured. And now David Quinn seemingly wanted him to be able to carry a line by himself if he wanted to play center, which isn’t crazy that he’s not able to do it yet. Is he the only player we can’t be patient with or what?
He turned 20 like 3 weeks ago, so no I don’t find that troubling

Kravtsov could use some time in the A to get used to the speed and physicality on a smaller ice surface.
My starting lineup would look like this.
Panarin Zibanejad Buchnevich
Kreider Andersson Kakko
Lemieux Strome Namestnikov
Chytil Howden Fast
McKegg

Hajek DeAngelo

The play of Lemieux and Namestnikov can insulate Strome to an extent. Play him there until Chytil or Howden play well enough to grab a top 9 spot.
Chytil deserves to start on the fourth line with Howden for now. Neither has been good but I would play them limited minutes and let them earn a spot at 3C before sending either down and killing confidence.
McKegg as the extra forward over Boo. McKegg played very well this pre season and is good enough to take a regular 4th line role.

Too soon to tell. His mettle will be tested when he has a team full of actual NHL talent to manage. He has a long leash this year. Starts to get a little tight if no playoffs next year, in the hot seat the year after if no playoffs at all in the following three years starting with this season, just IMO.
