Pyatt did some positive things in the PO's last season, I think he'll have a good game tonight on a line with ricards and zucc

That was with Richards as his center.

I think that is greatly overestimating Richards' effect on his linemates. Kreider has had an uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'd prefer Kredier starting the year in the AHL, but if he is going to play for the big club it better be in the bottom-6. I don't want a complete non-factor dragging down our already depleted scoring lines.

My wish for opening night:

Zuccarello-Stepan-Nash (Zucc acting as a Hagelin replacement)
Pouliot-Brassard-Fast (Fast as Zucc replacement)
Richards-Miller/Lindberg-Kreider/Miller (Kreider/Miller as Callahan replacement)
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Not sure about how well that 3rd line is going to play, but maybe they'll surprise.

Richie and Zucc played well together last year, but everyone played better with Zucc so it may just be confirmation bias since they played together a lot.

It's not that bad. Pouliot is a natural LWer but MZA can just as easily play on the left side. He did so last year. Fast and Miller can play both sides.

Guessing for opening night:

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-MZA
Pyatt-Richards-Fast/Miller
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Just a hunch.

well that makes more sense that's for sure. Did AV not say Boyle will play some wing? Tomorrow I guess?

Hey, it got the Rangers Barnaby. :sarcasm:

Powe won't get you anything other than another contract in return. Best case scenario is someone biting on the waiver wire, and that isn't even a sure thing.

and to this day im still shocked that it got Rangers that much back in a trade. at least Barnaby played a bit for the Rangers and did well with Messier and Simon :sarcasm:

I'm not thrilled with how Richards has played, but it's not his fault that Kreider hasn't played like a top sixer. Kreider needs to play with more initiative and decisiveness. He started to look a little better in the 3rd period on Tuesday night, but I don't think it was enough to cement a spot in the top 6.

I think there would be more interest now.
Start of the summer, teams are still hoping they can sign someone like Moore. Now, the good free agents are gone, and teams have to look elsewhere for those players.

I mean, maybe if a team is super desperate for a PKer they will consider it. But there are plenty of players either at Powe's level or better who have already been waived and cleared.

people said the same thing about Gomez, Rupp, Cigar, and other bums Sather was able to trade away..

Powe isn't in the same class as those players. He had zero points last season. No points in 42 games, it takes a special brand of ineptness to pull that off.

Per Gross:

Pouilot-Brassard-Nash
Pyatt-Richards-Zuccarello
Powe-D. Moore-Fast
Miller-Boyle-Dorsett

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal Del-Zotto
J. Moore-Stralman

Vancouver lineup in OP.

Just out of curiosity, that could possibly be the motivation of breaking up a chemistry line this close to season start ?

Did V. realize that the Nash-Richards combination is not working and is desperately trying alternatives ?

AV's big thing was pairs of players not entire lines at this point, so he broke up Nash and Richards which didn't work anyway but left Pouliot and Brass together which is the only other pair he mentioned by name.

Also chemistry between players isn't a fragile thing that needs to be nursed and protected, if it existed between guys all of camp it won't just disappear after a few games apart. It is sometimes tricky to find the elusive "chemistry" but once established usually lasts.

Is it just me or does this tweet indicate that AV has paired Staal with Strålman and Del Zotto with Moore?

#NYR AM lines: Pouliot-Brass-Nash, Pyat-Rich-Zucc, Powe-DMoore-Fast (not sure who is C), Miller-Boyle-Dors. McD, G, Staal, Stral, DZ, JMoore

Not to get off-track, but Zdeno Cigar signing worked years later.

Zdeno Ciger last played in the NHL in 1996 for guess who, the Oilers (who had acquired Cigar by trading ex-Ranger Bernie Nicholls), scoring 31 goals. Went overseas to play in Slovakia and tried a NHL return when Sather signed him in the offseason of 2001. By December, was found to be absolutely useless.

Sather tried one of his typical reclamation projects, and traded for Matt Barnaby at his all-time low. Barnaby claims it lit a fire under his ass, but I have a feeling that the Rangers were such a mess, Matt Barnaby wasn't a distraction.

To-date, Matt Barnaby may be the only reclamation project that has worked during Sather's tenure. The 2004 trading deadline purge comes, and the following takes place:

- Barnaby and a 3rd round pick to Colorado for Chris McAllister, David Liffiton, and the #37 pick
- At the draft, they trade the #37 pick for #50 and #73
- Then trade the #50 to Phoenix (who selects ODC's favorite, Enver Lisin) for #60 & #80
- Rangers draft @ #60, Brandon Dubinsky and #80, Billy Ryan

Zdeno Ciger = Brandon Dubinsky

Honestly, I think Kreider is trying too hard to stand out right now.
Let him play on the third line. Let him price himself as an NHLer, before we try to make him a top6 guy.
Have him playing some solid, not impressive, just solid, hockey and start going through the motions

Breaking up the uncomfortable pairing of Nash and Richards to revive the equally uncomfortable pairing of Nash and Brassard

I agree. i think maybe he put too much pressure on himself. i still dont think he played as bad as people say. I do agree he was bad in the Calgary game. He was pretty good in jersey and i thought he played well in Edmonton AFTER the 2 bonehead penalties. I would either start him on teh 3rd line or play him with stepan(they have tremendous chemistry)
