I'm kind of thinking Hughes becomes a Lafontaine or Kariya type player. Example like that today would be like Pettersson, Gaudreau, Barzal or Marner. They're smaller guys that can make you look really bad and he's going to make some of his own teammates look better than they actually are. The Devils have some good pieces around him right now. They'll need to hang on to Hall. Though Subban might be on a little bit of a decline he's still a very skilled d-man and he's got an over the top but pretty likable personality. And Hischier is really really good too. They're going to be an easy team for their fan base to like. If the Devils have an Achille's heel it's goaltending. I don't think Schneider's that good and I'm not sure Blackwood or whatever else they have are good enough. The big thing that can go wrong for them is they lose Hall--the position they need to upgrade is goaltender.

All that said I'm liking Kakko better. When we drafted Kreider he was like 6'2 190. He's around 215 now anyway. Kakko will probably play at the same--he'll be a power forward with great skill and determination. He is more physically ready than Hughes. He's also got an all around game kind of in place already. Last year the Rangers had one top end forward in Zibanejad. Now they have two in Panarin and Zibanejad and Kakko might join them very quickly and make three and there is real potential that Kravtsov and or Chytil could become 4 and 5. The Rangers offense in the next couple/three years has the potential to be explosive. We also have a shitload of top end defensive prospects and our future goaltending looks really really good. So anyway the Rangers and Devils look like they're going to be going at each other and be top end teams for a long long time.

Different style players can be equally useful. Kane vs. Ovechkin for example. The 2019 draft lottery was a seismic moment that changed the landscape of hockey in the tri-state area. Love it.

Devils have a very unpredictable roster this year with a lot of wild card players that could be huge or could bust.

That Hajek-Fox pairing will be interesting, since it's likely NYR field two rookie D on opening night, and depending on how confident they feel the two could be together.

I expected more of a Staal-Fox and Hajek-DeAngelo breakdown, but who knows with Quinn. He isn't a long time NHL coach.

Will anyone ever wear the C again?

I'm getting the feeling they will go without this year, my gut is telling me Trouba might be the guy even though right now I believe it is Zibanajad. I just look at the length of the contracts between them and if all things are equal the long contract gets it.

Is that the American pissed or the British pissed? The latter nation differentiates between pissed off and pissed. I'm not always sure because there are Canucks here too and I don't know their habits. Safest to just get pissed and worry about it tomorrow.

EdT: Go Kaapo! "Kakkaa päälle!" Bring us honor!

Obviously I'm particularly enraged, I don't do particularly drunk.
