Most of our bad contracts end in 2 years but the Rangers have been garbage in giving out contracts. Skjei, Smith, Shattenkirk, Names, Staal. Panarin is probably overpaid by at least 1 million, same with Trouba.

what is everyone's opinion on the lesser known players like O'Regan, Elmer, Jones, Crawley?? I think O'Regan gets some games with NYR down the road. more offensive upside than someone like Nieves. O'Regan also played for Quinn in BU. I think Elmer, O'Regan and Jones might surprise fans.

I thought Elmer and Jones were noticeable at Traverse. That being said, they are long shots.

That list shows that going back to 2015 you can find 5 contracts that were bad. I'm not disputing that, I was the OG Skjei truther and never understood the Namestnikov contract from the start. How about the good? Grabner greatly outperformed his contract and moving him out brought back Rykov and a 2nd. Brassard's contract was the motivating factor for Ottawa to give us Zibanejad. Zibanejad's contract itself has been a steal.

Now if you want to say there's more bad than good, sure. How many teams is that not the case for? The league is all about making mistakes, attempting to clean them up, and then making some more. It would obviously be better if the Rangers didn't participate in this tradition, but they are competing against teams that are playing the same game, so I don't buy the doom prophesies for that reason.

You want Panarin for 10.6 and Trouba for 7? Cool, but you have to pick whether you want the player or you want that number. I somehow don't think Panarin would have signed for 1.75M less than the Isles offer.

A while ago I came across a small brooklet in a national park nearby. It was maybe the nicest stream I've seen. Must go camping some more.

Super excited to get this year going. Great to see Kakks out there on the top line. Even more excited and hopeful for Andersson.

In my eyes Chytil and Andersson are the keys to how successful this team will be up front going forward. If one of them can make a jump and be a true 2nd line center (which may be a lot to hope for) and one solidifies themselves as a solid 3rd line center we will be in great shape. Howden is another player I like and have hopes for - albeit with less confidence.

The other huge and possibly even more important area on the Rangers to keep an eye on is the D. Will be great to see Hajek and Fox out there as well. Fox has really impressed me but I feel very hesitant to anoint him until I see him skate in several NHL games. No doubt the kid has tremendous puck skills and hockey IQ and is a GREAT watch.
