Random thoughts...

Lindgren a better passer than I expected but he still needs to work on his puckhandling. A couple of almost gaffes.

ADA very smooth with the puck. Didn’t have a lot of chances to play defense tonight. Need to see more orf that.

Impressive — Fogarty, Schneider, O’Gara, Meskanen
Struggling — Lindqvist, Nieves, Claesson

Star of the game not named Lias — Jesper Fast

I like all of this.
The worse part of this game was Kreider being invisible in my opinion.
Another "Kreider break out season", or another "well, kr ider could have broken out this season but..."?

Some players thought the physical tests and practice was very tough, couldn't get their legs going tonight.

Maybe Kreider was one of them. Been a long summer, give it a few more games.

Dude by all means, but so far this looks like another mediocre Kreider season that will be about 40 points. Guy should be fire from the get go

By what measure has Kreider had a weak season in his career?
That depends on the bar. Do you thing he's gone over or under the bar as far as being an effective player? If you thing he has over achieved, I dunno what to say

Just finished watching the game.. Wow Lias is Mr. Reliable.. He seems to do everything right. Excited to see how he fairs the remainder of the pre season.

I work mainly till 10pm so I’m going to miss a lot of live action unfortunately :(

Happy to be back regardless, it’s been a while since I’ve posted.

I see this is going to be a long season.

Already crucifying Kreider after one preseason game.

No one is cruifying anyone @Machinehead - just strong opinions about C. Kreider inconsistency for years now since he was drafted, but I should avoid the topic completely so it was my mistake earlier to talk about it obviously since so many had so strong opinions about him tonight in our first pre-season game. Yes it was only one game and we should let the Kreider topic rest for now and focus on our new system or coach, or someone else who actually had a great game tonight.

I felt that some of our defenders performed better in Quinn`s defensive system and that is quite interesting and looking forward to next game already.

Crucifying, harsh? Was he good though, in your opinion? He looked light on the puck if you ask me. And, he is now a veteran, he should do something...? Or are we waiting for a break out season again?

Yeah, avoid the subject? No
Guy has been a disappoinment so far.
Every year he'll break out... Nope..
Who knows this time, 6th time (?) is a charm. His 10 min storm against montreal made a lot of ppl forget how big of a disappointment he has been.
The Manimal. The beast. A player with superb physics, that just don't have the mental capacity most nights. So far, anyways. Fingers crossed

It was one of the worst games I've ever seen him play, but who cares?

Buchnevich is lazy. Unless he changes that, he will never be a big time player. Andersson the other hand is always in the right place. His hockey sense is off the charts. Listening to the nonsense about his game on here for months was laughable at best.

GWG was really pretty but i don't have Buch or Pionk among the top 3 performers, the "vet" line struggled 5v5.

Lias and ADA were amazing. Behind them i was impressed with Meskanen, he was all over the ice, really want to see him with a top class C during pre season.

Admittedly I wasn't paying as much attention as I'd have liked to, Emmys, but there was a sequence during the first period that really caught my eye. The puck was behind the Rangers net, and instead of being another idiot chasing it, Claesson held his ground in front of the net, and was visibly directing traffic.

So. After one preseason game, I can say, Quinn > AV.

That is all.

This was a common theme, a clear zone marking system. Dave Shapiro had some interesting thoughts on the system during the game.

The way ADA and Buch moved in tandem on PP was beautiful. With Shattenkirk, Zibanejad, Kreider and Zuke our PP1 will be good and some of this talent will spill over into the second unit too.

Speaking of Buch, I lol’ed when Daneyko called him “big and physical” but it’s true. In board battles Buchnevich not only managed to not fall and keep his ground but he won more of them than he lost. No hesitation, no drifting, fully engaged. Very happy there seems no lingering effects of last season’s concussion whatsoever.
