He's not the best player on the team. He's not even as good as Talbot.

You must be trolling or you probably had too much to drink after watching this team, there is no other way to explain those comments. This team is horrendous, Roy, Broduer and Hasek mixed in one wouldnt win here.

Trolling? Talbot has out performed Henrik at EVERYTHING this season. SV%, GAA, W/L.

LOL we went from "That's my evidence" to throwing in the towel and admitting you can't prove anything.
We're making progress now if we can get to admitting that we are assigning waaaaay too much blame to the Nash trade we'll have made a breakthrough. Simple is correct it does not take anything substantial into account. It's a very shallow attempt to lay the blame erroneously at the feet of one thing. If there was a top ten list of reasons why the team fell apart like this the Nash trade might be number 10. If percentages were assigned it might be 5% responsible

Your attempt to apply percentages or values to how the nash trade has hurt this team ( or has not hurt this team ) is just as bad as you saying that my reasoning for this teams decline is heavily related to the shipping out of AA and dubinsky are purely circumstantial. If you cant see how important AA and Dubinsky were to this team, than you will never see it. You are entitled to your opinion, however it seems like an opinion of the minority.

There are statistics that show losing Dubs did not hurt the team.

What are those stats? If you can show factual evidence that dubinsky and AA ( remember, AA left as well, you seem to only mention dubinsky ) staying here would have been worse for this team than acquiring Nash, i'd like to see it. So far, i see a vanilla team with no heart and little passion over the last two seasons. Those two players had both skill and physicality in their games.....something the Rangers sorely need.

The problem is the front office and the team around him bc it has been assembled poorly at best as I previously brought up

So you agree it may have been linked to the nash trade? The team was constructed well prior to the dismantling of the core assests on the roster. Sending AA and Dubinsky to Columbus for an uneracheiving Nash.....not too sure why, we had marion gaborik. Well than, that didnt work out so well, so we sent gaborik to columbus to get Dorsett ( trying to replace prust ) and Brassard ( who was an attempt to replace AA ). Then thers John Moore.....i'll reserve my judgement on him until the end of the sason, but so far i'm not sold on him either. To me, this was the beginning of the current failed roster. My opinion, yes, but man, its funny how all these moves lead right back to the Nash trade doesnt it? You see, the nash trade forced the gaborik trade and again, the gaborik trade did a terrible job filling the holes left by AA and Dubinsky leaving. Wouldnt we have been better off just forgetting about nash?

Christ it's 10:30 pm and I'm stuck in this ridiculous discussion again. ugh. Team sucks. Look at the other post a HELLUVA LOT is responsible and none of it has anything to do with the Nash trade

Seems like the Nash trade has a lot to do with how this team is constructed at this very moment. By your own admittance, its not a well constructed team.

I'm not sure why you dont think the nash trade had a large part to do with this teams current state. The first part of the recent re-tooling was losing AA and Dubinsky for Nash. That was supposed to make us great.....it didnt. Then, another attempt at retooling was sending gaborik to columbus for dorsett, moore and brassard. Seems they are still part of this underachieving team. but thats fine, you are entitled to your opinion. Might want to put on your glasses though.

Theres just an overwhelming sentiment to pin the teams struggles on one thing year after year. Now the fanbase is turning on their far and away best player since the lockout. You cant argue with people that are this dumb.

If the one reason isn't Sather, then you're usually looking at a **** argument.

I cant believe whats happening here, Hank being blamed. I cant believe what i just read man. I wanna rinse my eyes out with rogaine

Implying this is a good/great team when Hank is on his game is Sather mentality.

Should clarify, when I'm talking about this team's problem, I'm talking longterm; the core problem. If you want do nitpick short term problems, like "Who sucked this week" or "this month"--no, **** that, even then there's way worse Rangers right now. You could complain about how stupid Poo-yacht is, (which I do, lol) and/or you can complain about who signed him. Neither is wrong, but one is obviously more relevant.

It's his job is to build the team; it's HIS team.

Hank and Antti Niemi have the same exact SV%, .914, you know why their records are so different? The Sharks DON'T SUCK.

23GP into this season, and he's .006 below his career average of .920. Assemble the crucifix!

People blaming Lundqvist for every problem this team has must logically then, share the same mentality as Sather:

Get an elite goalie (or player) who can save your ass. Doesn't matter what you surround him with. He will be enough for you to win the cup.

Correctamundo.

I'm not pinning anything on lundqvist.

But he absolutely is NOT the best player on the team right now. He's not even in the top 5.

Just going to copy and paste my PGT post, have at it.

I guess that with a display tonight, there isn't much to say. I'm going to go ahead and take this chance and get it all out there.

This particular quote I got from twitter is very troubling to me.

Pat Leonard‏@PLeonardNYDN59m
AV on if team has enough grit: “With the personnel we have right now, we need to play a smart, high percentage, good puck movement game ..."

If AV thinks we really can play a high percentage, puck possesson game with this group of players, he really is more out of touch with the team than I initially thought. This is still Tortorella's team, just with a different head coach. When you fire a coach and hire another one to implement a different style, you need to make changes in order to accomdate that change in philosophy. That's on the GM. That's on Glen Sather.

Any competent owner would look at this and at least question the GM's moves in a situation like this. Hell, I'd even question firing a guy that brought you to the 2nd round and a game away from the Cup finals the previous two years. Then again, you say, "The players wanted Torts gone, the room turned against him". You're right, the coach needs to go if they really lost the room.

So now, the players got what they wanted. They got the coach they disliked out, and brought in more of a player's coach that preaches a more open game. Shame on this current group of players for not stepping up and bringing it after they got what they wanted. It comes across to me as a bunch of spoiled primadonnas that cry to Uncle Glen when they're put in time out.

I doubted the posters here when they say "the core is rotten". It took me seeing them first hand tonight to realize my doubt was misplaced. Not since the pre-lockout days have I seen our team play so passively and non chalantly. There was zero heart out there. No one sticking up for each other. No one getting mad when we were being dominated. Everyone looks too comfortable out there with mediocrity. Brad Richards said it himself;

Steve Zipay‏@stevezipay1h
Richards after closed-door meeting: "We're just floating along & it's getting old...whatever we are doing is obviously way too comfortable."

Talk is cheap. Show it out there or else changes absolutely need to be made.

I'm officially done with Callahan and Girardi. If either get a contract extension for more than 3 years, I'm going to have an aneurysm. Both should be getting nervous. They do not fit today's game. They're declining before our very eyes. Time to move on and re-tool.

This opinion also makes no sense. The teams problems are clearly not all lundqvist's fault. But lundqvist playing like poop is absolutely a significant factor to the team struggling right now.

If goaltending isn't important then why even resign him. Should have traded him to add some more scoring

Putting the blame all on one player's shoulders tells me that you agree with Sather's roster assembly philosophy for the past 8 years.

Where is the teams offense ranked? Answer it

Tell me why offensive ranking determines goalie SV% and GAA and I will answer your question.

But what you are asking is the equivalent of asking why is the sky blue. It has absolutely nothing to do with the point that lundqvist has not played well at all

I'm disgusted by this team
I need to rant guys, i'm sorry but i'm disgusted.

This team is the worst rangers team since the 05 lockout. Home ice/MSG and they let this Capitals team embarass them like this? Its not the first time a team came home to MSG this season and owned the rangers. This needs to stop though. Where is the passion, grit, energy? What the hell is going on with this team? Cant say injuries, cant say its still early, what is it? Not only are they not scoring, but now they are not showing any balls at all. No passion at home in front of the home crowd makes me wanna throw up.

Unbelievable that this team used to hustle and work hard. Seems like the minute that they fired Torts was the beginning of this team taking it easy. 15-15-1 is a record we would make fun of the Islanders for, now we are part of the joke. Pyatt,Pouliot, Brassard are 3 guys i would love to have replaced. The fact that Pyatt and Pouliot have spots on this team is enough to make me cry. It says alot about the organization. GM just needs to let this team go and move on, its really sad that we need to see the same stuff happen every year. I'm not even angry, i'm heartbroken at how bad this team has looked and how heartless they have looked. Whether we make the playoffs or not, i really hope changes are made after this year and i hope the organization sits down and they have a long talk about where the team is going because right now we are stuck in the same position as before, but worse imo.

At least the effort used to be there, this year seems like they turned into a bunch of guys with no emotion and no balls. Why the hell do we need to have a team like this? Where is the damn passion!?!?!?! I'm absolutely disgusted and i needed to get this out. It is a revolving door and it starts at the top. Can it be worse? Yes, but why does it need to be worse in order to worry? This is not working and something needs to be done. I cant believe how pathetic we look on home ice. Incredible.

If the offense scores, it makes the goalies life easier. Its Hanks fault that the team cant score?

Yes because saying "lundqvist is playing like crap and he needs to be their best player" is absolutely the same thing as "lundqvist is completely responsible for everything"

Must be nice living in a world of black and white. Someday you'll meet reality

Well put.

My problem with this team isn't their record, it's how they got there. They've gotten blown out of the building quite a few times, and even on many of their wins they just didn't seem to care.
I was for firing Torts, I don't think he ever would have led us to a cup. But, I'm not going to deny that he brought a culture of toughness and accountability which AV seems to not have kept up. We need that culture back, how do we get it? That is the question.

But Dolan swears that sather knows how to construct a winning team...... :help:

That's your argument? There's too much pressure on lundqvist? The team should make life easier for him so he doesn't have to be any good?

Why resign him to a huge contract then if the problem isn't related to goaltending at all? Surely talbot would be perfectly fine then with added offense.

Thanks, i made a thread and that was my opening post, just thought i'd put it here.

I'm not sure how we get that culture back. We had the players for it a few years ago, we had tough players who didnt take anything from anyone. We got rid of them

I'm not wasting time. Enjoy blaming Hank. See ya
