I hope this will be the last year.
So sick of this thread.

I think at this point the majority of Canuck fans accept that this team will not do well this year and the tank thread is kind of irrelevant. Watching Petterrsson, Boeser, hopefully Hughes in the Spring, and Horvat are the only reasons to follow the team this season. In a perfect world hopefully they can at least score some goals in the games they lose and make it somewhat entertaining. In the wise words of Todd Bertuzzi, "it is what it is" this year.

I mean, I realise that this is the tank thread and all, but man.......

this is NOT what being a fan is about. At all. I wonder what guys like Tiger Williams, Tom Larsheid, and Jim Robson would think if they saw this kind of mindset.

"Hey guys - lets hope that our team gets smoked tonight! Go Flames!!!"

I won't comment on this again [sorry mods], but I just can't help but wonder what's going through people's heads with this type of mindset. Lottery picks or not.

Cheering against your own team defeats the spirit of brotherhood and competition.

Meh. To each their own. I'll never understand this mindset. At all.

As a fan of the Canucks I refuse to accept the utter incompetence of the Benning regime. You have been a long-time fan of Benning and what he's accomplished, so this is quite literally the team you deserve. I, on the other hand, have not liked what he's done since he got here and refuse to support the team in any way.

I hope the Canucks get victimized game after game after game. Goal against, goal against, goal against. I hope they not only lose, but lose in embarrassing fashion. They need to be run out of the building night after night and thoroughly embarrassed to the point where even the most loyal Benning Bro can't attempt to twist things to explain why the team is so bad. I'm truly and absolutely disgusted by what Canucks management has done during their 5 offseasons. I'm at a loss to explain how some people can look at what they've done and say "yup, that's what I want more of" and "yup, the guy who gave out the Sbisa, Dorsett, Eriksson, Sutter, Gudbranson, Beagle, Roussel contracts is the guy I want running this team" and "yup, the guy who said Roussel didn't have a concussion, and when called out on it admitted that maybe it was a couple small concussions, is the guy I want running this team." I feel like I need to smash my head against a brick wall to try to dumb myself down to attempt to understand what people see in Benning.

I cheer against the Canucks because I want things to get so bad that management is purged. This team is going nowhere under current management. If you're the type of fan who doesn't care about this team winning the Cup, doesn't care about the long-term success of the team, and only wants to watch wins on a game by game basis and say "aww shucks, maybe next time" when they lose, fine. I can understand your comment then. But if you actually want this team to be successful long-term, if you want to see this team win a Cup, then you damn well should understand why people demand new management and that this is the only way that's going to happen.

My hope is that next year the thread will take a different tone. This year, like last year, is about being so bad that management is fired.

My hope is that under new, intelligent management in the upcoming off-season that we can FINALLY BEGIN to rebuild. Next year is going to be a bad season also. We'll certainly be in the Alexis Lafreniere sweepstakes. But my hope is that under smart management we can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's going to take anyone new some time to clean up the utter shit mess Benning has created though.

We need to hoard up on picks - any picks, 3rd, 7th, 2nd, no matter what.

At the same time our dear leader thinks draft pick acquisition would give him bubonic plague or small pox...

Don’t worry about it then. I’ll never understand a lot of things the Benning crew sees either. Maybe it’s time to stop trying to change the other side and just accept we see things differently.

Hopefully we don't get a repeat of the first 15 last year. With so many road games in October, I can't wait to see this sad sack squad get stomped!

I don't see it happening. I think we've seen the last gasp of air already. Other years, could predict a good start... this year feels different.

Team is dead. Death by neglect, the failure to care for properly. Some call it death by a thousand cuts... but I think that is too poetic for the clumsiness, ignorance, and stupidity spanning years. This was death by neglect.

What are people expecting here? Eventually the canucks were going to be in a down cycle after missing the play-offs only 3 times between the 00-01 and the 14-15 seasons. That's 14 years of a pretty decent hockey team.

The rebuild is happening exactly as it should. Stock piling high draft picks for 5 or 6 years. That's the reality for every general manager who is trying to turn their team around.

Um, w...where exactly is this..."stock pile" of "high draft picks"?

No it's not a rhetorical question, I would love to see where this invisible stock pile of high draft picks went.

Cause I don't see shit.

It's because this:

Having a terrible team is the easiest way to get your incompetent front office fired and a chance at Jack Hughes.

There. Understand it yet?

Uh...what? That stockpile of high draft picks is where exactly? They're not stockpiling picks at all. Benning's traded for a draft pick...how many times? It'd be one thing if Benning actually went out and got some draft picks, but he's just not doing that plain and simple. He's just put together a terrible team then sat on his hands and hoped things would improve. That's not trying to turn a team around. That's just building a bad team.

Before the season officially start, I just want to say:
