I thought he was fine in his rookie year. He had dog shit endurance and never really improved on that. I'm still not really impressed with him, he's just playing on a more skilled team. KK showed a higher IQ than Slaf did in his first year imo.
If he isn't making the basic simple plays he needs to be making he will be called out and rightly so.

Mailloux has made massive strides since that game against Buffalo.
Reinbacher has every tool to be a top 3 d. Impressive for an 18 year old. That positioning is great. Wait until he adjusts to the nhl speed.

I still remember when there was a controversy between Hughes and Kakko since Hughes was seen as a player who did not progress in his draft year and was not going to be a center because of his size and defensive deficiency. Even Gorton said that they are thrilled with the 2nd OA since they had the easiest pick in the draft.
Funny how that worked out.

It’s unfortunate because if he were drafted 5th overall and went back to Europe/AHL for the season and put up the numbers I believe he would’ve we’d all be pumping his tires right now and pencilling him in with Suzuki/Caufield

I would argue that the play died on his stick 6 -7 time in the first frame but am low battery and my wife is about to confiscate my phone because it is not socialy allowed while attending a game... bleh

I re-watched it a few times and it's most likely "Yes, un gros merci" but it does sound like "el gros" since he speaks fast.
