His buddy Nemec taken 2nd over all last season played the entire year in Utica and I would argue has probably surpassed Slaf because of it. Keeping him in the NHL last season was a mistake. They can change course right now bit probably wont.
He was better before that. You could see the IQ and the high odds of him becoming a ring general before the draft. Slaf never showed me anything other than I'm big and can score if given the space (which is a hard thing in the modern nhl)

He can't follow the game at modern day speed, Nemec is built for the modern game.

This is not far fetched sadly.

It’s unfortunate because if he were drafted 5th overall and went back to Europe/AHL for the season and put up the numbers I believe he would’ve we’d all be pumping his tires right now and pencilling him in with Suzuki/Caufield
He would have gone 2nd to Jersey and we would have been lucky grabbing one of Cooley, Nemec or Jiricek (most likely)

So guys who weren't in the scrimmage yesterday will play tonight. Maybe some who did play yesterday will play today, particularly those who are fighting for spots or contracts.

These are the players who weren't there yesterday:

D: Guhle, Barron, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Harris, Xhekaj, Demin (invite), Laaouan (AHL deal) & Ortiz (AHL deal).

F: Anderson, Slafkovsky, Newhook, Roy, Simoneau, Pezzetta, Beck, Farrell, Ylonen, Legare, Stephens, Condotta, Dufort (invite), Novak (AHL deal), Voyer (AHL deal), Yaremko (AHL deal)

G: Montembeault, Dobes & Vrbetic

In Reinbacher's case, if we're to go by what Gorton said at the golf tournament, maybe he'll get a preseason game in and most likely sent back to Kloten. So maybe he'll play tonight and after the game, they loan him back to his European team.
Kid needs to be in the AHL

I still remember when there was a controversy between Hughes and Kakko since Hughes was seen as a player who did not progress in his draft year and was not going to be a center because of his size and defensive deficiency. Even Gorton said that they are thrilled with the 2nd OA since they had the easiest pick in the draft.

Funny how that worked out.
It hasn't done anything yet. If Kakko gets more of a chance under Laviolette he might end up looking like a #2 pick.

Roy looks like he's straight out of Tetreaultville or Sorel.
I work on freight trains and pass through Tetreaultville a few times a week. It’s the only place I’ve seen grown-ass adults putting anything from coins, to rocks, to boulders, to f***ing bike racks on the track in front of us, then running away thinking they’re super stealth.

So maybe it’s just a thicker accent then?

I remember going to Glasgow and not understanding anything- and those guys were speaking English.
