Preds lines for next season right now

Most of their big contracts have trade protections. Cirelli, Hagel, Cernak, and Sergachev are all that don't at this moment. Sergachevs and Cernak NTC kicks in this June though. But with how old McDonagh and Hedman are it would be short sighted to trade either. Hagel is young and has played extremely well making his contract look like a bargain. Cirelli is good player but makes a touch too much.

They could try to move out Jeannot and Sheary and replace them with bargain contracts which would open up about 2.5 million but not sure if even that would be enough
 
I would not be surprised if you don't see Stamkos take whatever is left over and it may just be a 1 year type of thing until something may open up the following. I just don't see him being a guy that is going to chase the money. He may want more but I don't think he will care that much as long as he stays in Tampa.

While this may be very true, remember, he's part of the PA and I don't know that they'd be very happy with him taking a majorly discounted rate as it sets an interesting precedent.
 
Why is loyalty a precedent. Definitely not the 1st hometown discount. The fact he was practicing with Kucherov says he's staying

Remember the Bergeron and Krejci deals last year? I don't think the PA is going to lose their minds over a discount.

I doubt he really cares tbh. That whole part of the PA doesn't mean a thing when its something that affects your personal life as well.

I think with one solid top six addition the offense actually looks decent. The goaltending is astronomical and that’ll change but that defense minus McDonagh is weeeeeeeeak!!
We will have a ton of cap space that’s for sure. Not sure exactly but lots. Like lots.
I feel like we gotta be in on at least one high end dman. A good top pair RD to bump Fabbro down like pesce is fine by me!

Take out Glass and put in Tomasino.

Take out Livingstone and put in McKeown.

Take out Askarov and put in Lanky.
 
On the trade rumours board there is a rumour posted that Brady Tkachuk is available. If this is real, we have to be all in!
Look how good Florida is win his brother Matt. It’s so rare a young big bodied star is available. I would offer the farm for his services. I wonder what the sens would want from us??
Imagine we landed him for mostly futures??
He’s such Brunette type as well.

our top six could be deadly, then sign Stammer!!

Probably a strong mix of both? I'm guessing they'll want a goalie, and a top-6 scoring winger. Plus whatever additional futures incentives it takes to beat offers from 30 other teams.

So it's Evangelista, Saros/Askarov, 1sts/Woods/Kemells/Molendyks?

I wouldn't guess if they would focus on a "now" goalie in Saros, or would accept the potential of Askarov instead. Since it's Ottawa, they might rightfully be worried about retainability with Saros, so I could see it being Askarov.

Since this isn't a case where the player has any control, has term left, it's really a wide open field, we wouldn't be able to cross our fingers on submitting a substandard offer like we might with Marner if he was really pushing to come here? We'd have to put up a bid that would really hurt us, unfortunately. :(

If Tkachuk is available, 100% should be in on that. Don't know what they would want but it'll be expensive. Probably a mixture of current and futures. Maybe out from Korpisalo's contract while getting a current goaltender starter upgrade. Ottawa could be a 1 stop shop if we were willing to spend alot....

A guy like Tkachuk is so rare I feel like we should do that trade easily.

Why did you laugh at all my posts on two separate boards about Tkachuk to Preds?

You don’t think he’s a good fit or what? Please explain as I’m confused. Why wouldn’t you want him? He’s a rare talent. Don’t see what’s funny…
 
I'd be happy with both but I find it interesting so many people like Tkachuk so much more than Marner. You can argue that Tkachuk plays more of a "playoff style" of game but he's yet to actually make it there so who know. The biggest upside with Tkachuk is his age and contract but that subsequently is going to make the price way higher. In any case it sounds like the Tkachuk rumors don't have any merit anyways.

Tkachuk has size/playstyle that seems to fit the system Trotz/Brunette want to play more than Marner. 4 more years on a pretty friendly contract. Doesn't play with other elite talent so not as many questions about if he can sustain output on this team. 2 years younger.

Marner would be a good add too just more questions about his ability to produce without an elite center and his caphit is already massive before his UFA extension at the end of next season.

Tkachuk likely isn't actually going to be traded. I also think it would be dumb if toronto traded marner instead of working with Tavares to get him to move even if the return isn't good.

You stated that the Preds should be “all in” if Tkachuk is available so I assume you’d be willing to drastically overpay to get him. I find that quite humorous so I laughed.

I get the playstyle difference and the linemate quality difference, but Marner's numbers are also better thank Tkachuk's. Outside of on ice play I can see the appeal for Tkachuk over Marner, but that also means Tkachuk would likely have a much higher acquisition price. I can get on board with liking Tkachuk over Marner but what I don't get is the Tkachuk >>>>> Marner comments.

You think marner is equal or has higher value then tkachuk? I feel if you asked this as a poll that tkachuk wins by a landslide. I feel he’s a much more complete player, is younger and has had success in the NHL without the leagues possibly best goal scorer.
I for sure would pay an awful lot to get him. Do you think the proposal of askarov, Evangelista and Kemell is overpayment?

As for the tkachuk>>>>>marner comments I would say as an example. Look at Matt Tkachuks stats in Calgary. Then look at Huberdeaus.

Brady can do it on his own and is a big frame built for playoff hockey. He’s tough and is a leader. He’s as talented as marner but with many more intangibles. Age being a big one too.
