So, TJ Brodie. Excellent career. Solid player. A player like him signing his last major contract with the career he's had almost always gets a extra year added to their deal. Brodie has been excellent for us. This year, is that year. He's on the downside of a solid career. Playing his ass off, but he is declining. Injuries to our blue line has exposed this team. Players like Gio and Brodie tiring late. Klingberg doing a waltz out there. Our blueline was never a strength this season. McCabe isn't great, but right now he is missed. This also exposes a young goalie and a goalie playing for his major contract. Trading Sandin was a mistake. Hopefully by spring Brad has done some upgrading on the blueline.
I disagree, he doesn't have the footspeed and we have other candidates that can fill that role, such as Timmins. Cowan has also been a great prospect for us so far, and looks like beauty.

Matthews, Nylander, and Marner are all on pace for 100+ points, and yet we're just holding onto the last wildcard spot (and most likely only because other teams have games in hand). Crazy stuff.

What was that? Every Single Game Leafs get too many goals, the Defence is rubbish and Even Woll had a Blackout.
Seems to be a tough Season, with this Performance Leafs wont make the Playoffs.
Very dissappointing.

Think you meant to say cause we’ve played more games. Isles have 2 games in hand but I know what you were saying, regardless this leaf team will miss the playoffs and hopefully that will kick shanny to the curb

Before Sens fans get cocky they might wanna check the standings. Still last in the division.
Not a sens, nor leafs fan but..

Leafs have 6 wins from 13 games vs Sens have 5 wins from 11 games....
also... Sens are +6, where as Leafs are -3
and... Sens have 5 regulation wins, Leafs with 3

If my (sucky) math checks out... Sens have had a better season what the Leafs so far

Neither have been great imo

Looking like bubble wild card teams at the moment for both

The Leafs with their capspace last offseason could have went with,

Cole 3 million
Soucy 3.25
Accari 2
Rodrigues 3
Suter 1.6.

It seems easy to make decisions after the fact but I believe those 5 make a bigger impact.

"I need to be better".

There you go folks. That's what accountability sounds like. The Leafs finally have a true professional on the team.

Figures it's the lowest paid player.

I'd like to see one of platinum card carrying members say something like this. Instead of always acting entitled. And don't even try to tell me the team looked good tonight.

The narrative the Leafs looked good while losing is built on the premise that perception is more important than performance.

These guys don't get paid to look good to lose. They get paid to win. Whether they look good or not is besides the point.

You think fans attending tonight's game care if the team looked good?

Nobody is giving them a refund for that pathetic performance. A 3-4-0 home record isn't good enough for the hard working fans attending these games. The whole team needs to be better.

Not just the rookie goalie with only 19 games in the NHL.

Canucks went for 3 of those. And on top stole lafferty from Toronto lol. Rutherford knows what he’s doing

The only difference to the leafs and oilers starts to the season is that their stars were slumping and ours weren’t.

But both teams have the precise same flaws.

This team is dreadful, top to bottom. Atrocious defence, can't kill a penalty, can't get a save, can't get any consistent offence. Fire Shanahan, Fire Keefe and fire Treliving too, before he does anymore damage.
As much as this will get raked over the coals and trashed, I think it is time to really consider dealing from a position of surplus and address the defense issue. Matthews you do not move. His game just keeps growing on both sides of the puck. So that leaves you Taveras, Marner and Nylander. You cannot move Taveras or Marner with their no trades. That leaves Willie. Ideally a nice stud # 1 RHD would fit the bill. Tough to find.
But if Calgary is having it's fire sale as the media points out, what about Weeger and Anderson or Tanev for Nylander and Klingberg?

Reiilly - Weeger
Brodie - Anderson
McCabe - Lily
Gio - Timmins

Maybe add in Timmins if necessary to address D bodies in Calgary. Drastic yes, but TML not winning any cup with the current D depth

Forward Lines:
Knies Matthews Jarnkrok
Bert Taveras Marner
Robertson Domi Gregor
McMann Kampf (Reaves ?) Though I do hope they waive him. Oh where is Sam Lafferty when you need him. Maybe offer Vancouver their 5 th back and add a 3rd. Trading him was another bad decision.

Anyhow, burn me at the stake for suggesting trading "a world class talent"

It would balance the team better but there’s no way they move Willie pre Sweden trip.

At this point I would sign Willie long term and deal with the imbalance when Mitch amd JTs deals are up.

You're not going anywhere with that goals against per game average:
