What an absolutely terrible thing to say about a defensemen. "Protect" him?
That means giving him only o-zone starts in noncrucial situations. Also not against the other team's top line whenever possible.

That's how you protect a defenseman.

I'm not so sure giving Tre more capspace to play with in free agency would be the right thing lol

What a ludicrous thing to say, he hasn't screwed up any teams in the past with horrible signings... it isn't like he was the GM of Calga.... oh wait, maybe you are right.

Yeah okay buddy, what do you know? You’re not part of us here in Leafs Nation.

At least he didn't sign all of them long term just Kampf and Reeves ffs

I don't blame him for the defense though, Klingberg blows but we're bloody thin on the backend and have been for years

There's no hope for this team, at least for this year. They've totally regressed into being a terrible defensive team that can hopefully pick up wins by having a great offensive night or get totally bailed out by goaltending. Just like they were in 2016/17, except this won't have that same shine as when it felt like the beginning of a new era. It will just be hard to watch

I’m not worried about Woll, he’ll bounce back.
But man, that was some atrocious goaltending tonight.
Only thing worse was the defending.

Our team started last season with defensive depth. Trading Sandin at the deadline was wrong. Signing Klingberg appears to be worse. Brad signed mostly forwards changing our depth. Yet our third and fourth lines still don't contribute. Brad also brought Keefe back a decision I truly didn't care for. Someone in the core four has to go. It's not going to be Matthews or Pajama Boy. It seems our front office is playing checkers. Maybe you can find a way to rob the Oilers GM he has to be desperate. He's playing marbles.

I can't believe Tocchet turned the nucks around so quickly. We need a change.
Go look at their PDO and Demkos numbers. They are giving more effort, but they are going to level out. 14+% shooting 5 on 5 as well. They are on a gigantic heater

Thing is that Shanahan and Treliving will want to go for it instead thinking they can do what Florida did last season.

Those expecting a sell off in a down year will be greatly disappointed.
The only hope we have is if management after another failure of a season decides it has had enough of the Shanny debacle and fires him, Tre and Keefe

Their biggest star was Stone for sitting out all year to come back for game one and give them a ridiculous advantage.
Shouldn’t our 4 super stars give us an advantage?

The team was bad in the playoffs last year and they got worse, which was expected, and why I said they are not a lock to make the playoffs.

Every team has the same cap hit, except for Vegas that year... are we trying to pretend that an extra 10 million wasn't a major advantage for them?

They still won the division without Stone for half the year. Must be nice.

They had a capped out team... Stone was adding a $0 cap hit...
