It’s only 3-0 who cares
Zito’s vision with our offensive core this year, apart from being a product of cap constraints, is geared towards a more responsible defensive/hard-nosed game. Maybe thinking about the playoffs if we make it there. That seems to be the logic behind the moves/acquisitions. We were never going to repeat last year’s numbers anyways even if we kept everyone, so compared to other teams like Detroit and Ottawa of course we’ll regress in that department as those other teams improve and maybe it seems like their offensive cores are better. But I don’t know about overall results. Will remain to be seen if we miss the playoffs and they overtake us.

1.) Toronto: Goaltending can go either way, but they didn't get good goaltending last year either and finished 2nd in the Atlantic, 4th in the league. They also lost the least of the top Atlantic teams.

2.) Florida: I think fans underestimate the Huberdeau loss due to the perceived value of Tkachuk. However, this team won the President's Trophy last year so their demise seems greatly exaggerated.

3.) Tampa: They always find a way to finish top 3 somehow, so got to give it to them.

4.) Boston: They have a good system, their demise was predicted last year and they finished 6th in the conference with 107 points.

5.) Ottawa: They improved, but they're overestimating how much they improved due to understating how bad they were last year. They didn't improve 30 points, which is what they would need to make the playoffs. Also, I am not expecting Debrincat to put up the same numbers he did in Chicago, Ottawa does not have anyone close to Patrick Kane offensively.

6.) Buffalo: Them and Detroit are pretty close to me, I'll just digress to Buffalo because they finished 1 point ahead last season. It's a coin flip really, both young teams - depends which players step up more.

7.) Detroit: Will compete with Buffalo for 6/7 in the division, see above.

8.) Montreal: I see Montreal openly tanking for Bedard. Won't be surprised to see players get demoted for putting up points, imagine the Buffalo Sabres in the McDavid draft scenario. If a goalie makes a few good saves, they'll be gone.

Do I need to post the 4th lines as well or will you finally give in that the senators offense is not better than or deeper than the panthers?
Lol...Colin White will not outscore Pinto, more specifically from the wing as he has never worked there...And Rudolf Balcers???Really, classic tweener waived by a lottery team ...Ottawa absolutely could score more than FLD this season

Show your work. Tiered ranking. 1-12 or 1-18 depending on if you want to do top 6 or top 9. Show your work how Ottawa’s forwards are comparable to Florida

I’m sold. Thanks for proving your bonafides random person. Your opinion now holds weight unless someone else claims to have watched hockey for 36 years and 53 panthers games.

I don’t agree with you for Lundell>Stuetzel, but I can appreciate the work you put in. Much better than some guy who didn’t make it close to the show acting like his opinion is the highest quality because he “watched them more than panthers fans.”

I don’t pretend to be the end all be all of hockey knowledge. I know I’m going a bit on a ledge saying lundell>Stutzle, but I’m at least supporting my argument.

Finding a way? They have at minimum 4 HOF'ers on their team.

I don't know how they do it really. Thank god for the refs

I think Sens squeak into the playoffs as a WC team with the big 3.

Uh, I watched hockey for 35 years and watched 52 panthers games so I’m an authority
Florida only scored roughly 120 more goals than the Sens last year that gap is obviously not so big so the Sens clearly have the deeper team now with a few upgrades :sarcasm::sarcasm::laugh:

- I think Florida is going to be a worse team than they were last year, but I could be wrong. Their best players, Bob aside, are in their primes. They just seem kind of thin this year, and i think that last year's team(in the regular season) had great chemistry that will be hard to repeat.
- I am tired of predicting BOS's(and PIT's) downfall, but at some point, not having any prospects of note that will contribute, and running the same old Band out there is going to cost them, right?
- TBL are also getting older, not better, and McDonagh's loss will matter.
- Toronto surely will get lucky at some point, no? Who's their goalie this year, again?

Actually the Sens winning percentage was surprisingly good in the second half of last season. First half was a gong show.

Zero pressure on the Sens in the 2nd half of last year being miles out of a playoff spot. History has shown countless times that It's fools gold to think that a late season surge by an also-ran equates to success in the following season. Until the Sens upgrade their D and bring in a HC who can teach them how to play in a structured manner, they are still going to be looking up to the big 4, Toronto, TB, Boston and Florida. One last thing, don't expect career backup and minor leaguer G Anton Forsberg to stand on his head again, he was outstanding last year.

I think adding a perennial loser on a retirement contract in Giroux is going to blow up in their face TBH. Reminds me of Iggy to the Avs.
That may be, but for this year at least, Giroux is still a net positive in a top 6 winger role. Hard to count out Ottawa’s offence, which May border on elite if Stutzle progresses. Their D and G will need to weather the storm for them to take a divisional slot from Tampa/Leafs/Cats though.
