This is one of the craziest drafts in a while where there's no consensus at all after Celebrini at 1. I feel like the next ~12 guys could all go in any order at all.
There's not even a consensus 12 either. There are like 5-10 players that could be added to that.

It's a deep 1st round. I think any teams in the 14-30 range have to be happy with keeping their picks

To piggyback on this, I'm going to name all the players that come to mind that I think should get 1st round considerations as of right now;

Celebrini
Lindstrom
Basha
Helenius
Hemming
Demidov
Silayev
Artamonov
Brandsegg-Nygard
Catton
Eiserman
Parekh
Levshunov
Jiricek
Dickinson
Connelly
Iginla
Yakemchuk
Buium
Greentree
Hutson
Boisvert
Parascak
Chernyshov
Howe
Kiviharju
Ritchie
Misa
Letourneau
Galvas
Jecho
Mews

I named 32, but there are many more that are producing well and not on this list. I'm sure I missed some important ones, but I think that's a very strong list compared to the past 10 or so drafts.

i don't know that i agree. the d group is deep in a sense, but i'm not sure how many legit top pair guys there will be. feels like maybe d group is slightly better than typical maybe, but up front it seems much weaker than last few years. and i don't tend to scout goalies that much (bc i basically can't), but i don't get sense this is great goalie draft either.

I think the top 5 of the draft is fairly average (last years draft was an insane top 5) and the defense overall is above average or closer to average. I think this draft is strong because there is a strong Russian, Finnish, and Canadien gorup. Then you have guys coming from variious countries like Levshunov, Brandsegg-Nygard, and Jiricek that are consensus first round choices right now.

Usually a draft's hype is created based on how many good Canadien and American draft elgibles there are. For NA it is pretty average at all positions, but internationally it is strong. The Russians and Finnish players at the top really boost this draft and the Swedish players always pop-up after the WJC or so.

I don't know if I would say "deep" but I agree on lack of consensus. I think once you get to the 20's there's good players but it becomes questionable whether their true top 4D/top 6 FWD's. Still very early though, mind you.

But I agree after Celebrini its really all over the place. This could be a year where one guy a team has 6th is rated 15th by another team. After Celebrini there's no clear elite players (tho Demidov is closest imo) but alot of very good/interesting players from 2 to say 15 +/-.

And quite a few really good defenseman too. Agree that your not 100% sure how many top pair guys but this could be a draft where some really good top 4 defenseman are picked up in the teens imo.

This draft is extremely underwhelming. Celebrini I obviously like, seen him live a couple times. I'm still unsure how high his upside truly is but he's #1 OA material easily. His production is incredible.

After that it gets even more muddy with every single guy having issues that could restrict them from hitting their ceiling.

The top 12 is deep this draft. There isn't a massive top 5 like last year but the players from 2-12 are all fantastic and could be elite.

Badinka was not even selected for the Czech team. This fairy tale about a player in the first round of the draft should be over by now.
Maybe...I don't think making WJC team as 17/18 year old should always be a prerequisite to become a 1st rounder. There are plenty of examples of good players getting cut...and lesser players making their teams.

If he was really a player of the caliber of the first round of the draft, he would absolutely certainly be in the team (there is only one possibility that would deny it and that he plays many times better in the club than in the national team). Czech hockey does not have so many top players to choose from that it can ignore such a player..

Wow Catton is in the 6th tier?

I see him on track for a top 5 pretty easily as a do everything franchise center.

Disclaimer as I have watched about 39 combined minutes of the 24 prospects......just like 95% of the people in this section.
