Please, agriculture and environmental protection concerns use 90% of the water in California. The little bit of water used by urban areas is a drop in the ocean.

The idea that urban conservation helps at all is a myth. Don't be fooled by senile old Brown's propaganda.

Different mindset I suppose. You have the mindset of "why bother", whereas I'm more about, "let's do what we can to help". Yup, turn off your auto sprinklers and take shorter showers. That's how I roll.

Such a bunch of nonsense by some of us.

Voynov will certainly be missed and while we don't have his replacement at the ready our D is going to not only be very good but it will continue to be elite. Have some of us gotten spoiled by how great our D has been the past 4 seasons? Because we are still going to be great so instead of breaking your chins with your kneejerk over reacting just sit back and watch how good we will be.

Doughty may be the best Dman in the game.
Muzzin is arguably the best #2 in the game. Check out his advanced stats and tell me he isn't with any certainty.
Martinez while much maligned here is still a very very solid hybrid #4 dman.
McNabb is easily a top 4 dman and those who can't see that are watching too many Kings games and not enough of everyone else. He took a huge step forward last year and is becoming a very solid #3 two way Dman more so with every dozen games he plays.

Ehrhoff has been everything from a legit #2 to an acceptable #4/5D and I believe we will get the solid 2nd pairing Dman that we expected when signing him.

So 5 of our top D are all either elite or very very good at their positions. Add Greene McBain and Forbort and we have 3 options at for our 3rd pairing that are better than average and while not elite certainly as good as anyone else around the league. Take a look at the Hawks Cup Winning D from last season, our entire D is significantly better than theirs. In fact Keith/Seabrook aren't as good as Doughty/Muzzin and from there down they don't match up with us at all.

So relax, our D is going to be great this coming season.

wow a voice of reason in amongst the chicken littles great to read and thanks for doing it

...and it doesn't matter, but if it makes you feel good more power to you.

BTW, it's not a mindset, it's basic math.

If the Ehrhoff,McNabb Experiment Fails...sign Chudinov!

Doughty-Muzzin
Ehrhoff-McNabb
Martinez-Greene

Extra: McNabb or Schultz

The Kings need to find a number 3-4 D-man now!If Martinez can't hack it,trade him!If Forbort can't be that D-man...as for McNabb and Ehrhoff I have my doubts!McNabb can be a good number 5-6!

PS There is a D-man I been following for a few years his name is Maxim Chudinov. He plays for SKA St Petersburg and his contract is up in 2016.He like my favorite ex-King, VVoynov shots Right and is built eerily along the same lines! Not sure he could fill his shoes completely but Chudinov would better than anything we possess right now!

He belongs to Boston. And he's not coming over by all accounts, he's comfortable in the KHL.

I've always felt the Kings needed a C.H.U.D..

I am not down on McNabb, just honest in evaluation. I don't just pencil a rookie/sophomore into a lineup and say we are fine. Guys that can step into NHL like Voynov has are rare...
Other then his positioning, I also didn't like how McNabb was playing along the boards in the battles - this is why probably Sutter benched him when Martinez got healthy.
Thx for pointing out one of his weaknesses. I won't call any of them glaring. That probably wasn't fair. But you're right, he's slow on his feet jostling back and forth side to side in corners and along the boards. Gets beat out of corners too often, not only by guy with puck but the guy he's supposed to cover and stick with. Also, when he first goes back for the puck, if a guy puts pressure on him or closes the gap fast, he's very inclined to go right into eat mode, which is basically not moving your feet too much, and then protecting the puck by placing yourself between the puck and the opposing player. He's very good at eating, and it's a good skill to have. It's better than turnovers. However, he should be able to skate a few strides out of this pressure most of the time, and then make a good pass. When he has the puck and isn't in eat mode, he becomes a completely different player. His passes are sharp and good. On the other end of the rink, he's exceptional. He's good on the pp, and also, if they let him go a little bit, he's very uncanny with the puck and faints and dekes out on the blueline, and can really make guys look bad. However, it's high risk hockey. It's like DD 2.0, but he can't recover as well if he screws up and the Kings (read Stevens article) doesn't want him doing this anyway. They also don't want him chasing the hit. As many times early last year when we saw his crushing hits, if you watch closely, there were just as many times where he was leaning towards the hit only to take himself out of position. These are some of the things that Sutter cringed at, but McNabb got the message as the year went on, and as most agree, played very well at the end of the season. However, what made him an all star in the WHL and the AHL was his offensive skills, and hitting, and both of these things the Kings aren't necessarily looking for out of him. They are teaching him to be SAH, and at this point I'm not so sure he's further along in that department as say Gravel or Forbort. But we'll see. It would be great if they played him with DD. He certainly had troubles last year playing with Greene, McBain, both guys with similar problems in the D zone. It'll be interesting to see if he works with Erhoff.

I like this D.
I like a mobile D.
I like Drew and Muzz.
I think Alec is a budding Lubo.
McNabb is ready, proof is 15-16. ?
This group must be much more offensively dangerous.
I worry about Greene.
Deepest the Org has ever been, many options.

Brayden McNabb has played 9 years of hockey since entering juniors. Take him out back and shoot him.

What would satisfy you as a fan? Just curious.

It's not about being satisfied as a fan.
What we need is a play style that fits our players.

Since we mostly have fast mobile players you can guess how much fun they have staying around in front of the net being shot at in front of opponents and own goal

The Kings scored more goals on the breakout last year than on the cycle, mainly based on their outlet system.

Also, the Kings are one of the lowest shot blocking teams in the league defensively.

Offensively the only guys they put in front of the net generally are bigger players who you would consider "Power forwards", IE King Brown, Clifford/Nolan, and Lucic will be one.

Out defense is going to have wings. Like a feminine hygiene product.

AMart was great last year. Until he got concussed. Then it was out of his control. Still, if Kings fans don't want him, other fans will. Heck, who wouldn't want AMart, the guy that killed Chicago and scored the SC winner in '14. I guess just some spoiled Kings fans.

Yes he was given a 2 year ELC and i am very high on the kid. Can easily develop into a Mitchell and Scuderi type and he is determined to get better and make the NHL. He continues to make huge strides and is impressing the organization. We have great prospects on D.

Thanks for that news. Don't know why I missed it.

When was he signed?

I think it is about sacrifice. They sacrifice several aspects of their game to lift the Cup and have done it twice (as you know) and almost 3 times in a very short period. When something is working the players adapt. Maybe they aren't as personally satisfied as they could be but their name is on the cup now multiple times so it makes it easier to remain in the system that got them there.

Since I'm the only one in the entire thread who mentioned trading Martinez, I guess I'm the "spoiled" one. If you read my post again, I framed trading him or Greene as a means of freeing cap space if necessary. If he's not going to play on the second pair then he's a luxury on the third pair at 15-minutes per game. Currently, he's a luxury we can afford, but if we can't get an effective second pair going this season, then moving his salary becomes tempting in helping fill that hole.

I'd certainly try to move Greene before Martinez. But Martinez is a better player than Greene, which makes him easier to move.

I agree completely, and would have been fine with trading Martinez if it meant keeping Serkera. We'll see how it goes at the 3C spot this season, but Martinez may very well be a luxury that Dean can't afford.
